oil pan question, 305 to 350 swap

swapping from 305 tpi to older 350 and was wondering if I was going to have clearance issues with the 350's factory oil pan. I was wondering because I notice JEGS and SUMMIT have oil pans specifically for third gens, makes me think that a stock old pan wont work for some reason.

Re: oil pan question, 305 to 350 swap

Externally, they are pretty much the same in dimensions. The difference between new and old is...

New:
dipstick on left side (from the front of the motor)
Additional partial windage tray and the lowest center point is re contoured (to provide more structural support?)

Old:
Opposite side for the dip stick.
The end seals may also be slightly different sizes. The pans will not be interchangeable between motors if i remember correctly. There could also be some specific applications that vary

Your old oil pan on the older style 350 should be fine fitting into the car.

Re: oil pan question, 305 to 350 swap

i know the pans between the two blocks will not interchange due to the whole seal and dipstick issues, but I was just wondering about external fitment I guess.

thanks a lot!
