305 to 350 vortec
so i found a 5.7 vortec in a '98 3/4 ton silverado and it's going to be going into my '82 t/a, just wondering about a couple of things, first does anybody know if it's a 4 bolt main block? and secondly what are the chances that i can use a mechanical fuel pump?
i had put vortec heads on my 305, but i spun a bearing. so i have the proper intake and most other things taken care of, are there any small things that need to be changed or modified? like i'm pretty sure i need to use my old oil pan. what about accessories?

I'll know a lot more in a month, because I'll be helping my brother replace the engine in his '99 Suburban.
I'm not sure which Vortec engines got 4-bolt main. They did get roller lifters, though.
I doubt the block will be machined for the fuel pump rod. Slight chance it will be, but more than likely it will not.

My 1997 Vortec Express was machined for the fuel pump from the factory and had a block-off plate as factory equipment. The GM crate engine that is currently in it was not machined nor is the GM TBI crate engine.

okay, well the truck the motor is currently in was a cab on frame truck, no bed or box or anything, it was previously used by pepsi for a delivery vehicle. so i'm thinking it had a big aluminum box on the back of it.
