I must have made the car gods mad

Since the fbody gathering i have repainted my car because of a few paint chips. got it all painted and put in a new Radiator with dual fans. started teh car up drove it to the store on the way back heard funny noises commin from the bottom end. finished driving it home the mile pulled it in the garage checked the oil it looked like metal flake paint on the dipstick. so i promptly pulled the motor out turns out i spun a bearing on number 5 cylinder. thought this will be an easy fix turn crank new bearing and I;m good to go. nope crank would need to be turned to .060 thats no good oh did i forget to mention since this is the firrst time i am going through the bottom end since i got the motor from my father in law. the bottom end is a ls6 454 bottom end forged crank and pistons. while at the machine shop they also said i smacked 2 pistons on the head and they are now tight so they would have to be reworked also. they sugested a new rotating assembly from Eagle. (not in my budget at the moment.) so i looked for a new motor just to get it back running. It's heading to woodward dream cruise in a few weeks. found a motor that was suppose to be a fresh rebuilt motor suppose to be a 468 nope it wasn't. oh well When i bought the motor i also got a th400 with it so i figured i would send it out to get rebuilt. to replace the th350 that i can't seem to get to stop leaking. so i send it out they rebuild it with stage 1 clutches and a shift kit. not to bad. but th400 has different yoke opps i forgot about that order new yoke it comes in and hmm won't fit the 400 Why well i guess i have a 3 year only th400 that has a smaller seal area. the new yoke fits the shaft but not the seal so new tail shaft and seal now it's right. opps forgot th400 is shorter that the th350 so i need a longer driveshaft. opps thought the torque arm braket from the 350 would fit the 400 nope need new crossmember after ordering the th400 member without the torque arm provisions. so as of right now i am waiting for 2 members to show up one with and one without. so since the gathering
400+ paint
500 painter
700 radiator and fans
1700 454 and th400 and 750 holley
957 th400 rebuild
297 member with provision
129 member without provision
100 new gasket kit and dipsticks for th400 and 454
40 to have bellhouseing on th400 welded yea broke the bellhousing motor and trans fell off cherry picker and broke bellhousing
??? driveshaft lenghtened
??? fliuds and plugs
for the money i have in this thing the past month i could have ls swapped it
yesterday i was told of a complete ls swap for 1000 bucks really FML

not to mention a capasitor blew up on my compressor so the painter didn't get to finish putting the stripes back on yet. good news is this tho. i have 2 complete big block swaps so when the other 454 gets rebuilt i can have the th350 rebuild also and i have everything to make another big block camaro all the way down to exhaust.

Re: I must have made the car gods mad

now the old 73 454 yep 454 not 468 pistons are stamped std oh well. the old motor is a ls bottom end forged crank and pistons arp studs in the heads and in the block 4 bold mains 427 closed chamber rect port heads that have been ported with a vitor 454-r intake and 930 holley cam is a 550 lift 292 duration comp cam new double roller chain new springs in the heads 1,7 roller rockers new from what the specs of a ls6 it has 11.5 compression ratio. should be close to 600 hp it was a stout little motor .

new motor
72 454 9 to 1 compression 049 oval port heads open chamber factory cam edelbrock performer 2.0 intake and 750 holley 2 bolt block i did swap the 1.7 rollers on it and timing cover and valve covers the rest i left alone. I put all new gaskets on it and cleaned it up but it is nowhere near the old motor
