LT1 or LS1 Enigine in a 92 camaro??

How much would it cost{approximately} to get in a used Lt1 or Ls1 engine from 93 to 01engine from a Junk yard and to get it into a 92 RS along with a 6 spd, I can't do it so Just wondering about cost for engine {used} trans {6spd used} +Labor charges!!?
One more question is would a Bayer or baer brake kit setup help a 92 Camaro to keep up with the above mentioned engines and what about body and suspension, mine is a T-top??

Car: 92 RS - Fully Restored w/Custom Int
Engine: LO3 with some mods
Transmission: T-5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Richmond
My guess is no more than a grand for a used LT1 & 6-speed.
No more than a grand for the labor to do the swap.

LS1's would probably cost more since they are alot harder to find used.

What you REALLY need is a connection in the junkyard business who can hook you up. My bet is a working LT1/LS1 wouldn't last a day in a junkyard before someone snatched it up.

Car: '91 t-top RS; '91 hrdtp Z28
Engine: LO3;383tpi
Transmission: 700r4;very nice 700r4
Axle/Gears: 4.10 zt posi, 3.70 auburn
A lot more than that

Unless you have a major hook up with the owner of a salvage yard, and are best friends with a mechanic, than maybe you could do the entire job for under 3K. But generally speaking, a used 6 speed tranny alone will cost over $1000. Labor is expensive as well, especially if you have an auto right now. Check out ebay, keywords LS1, LT1, and T56 and you'll get a good idea of what these babies go for. Keep in mind that milage will matter as well. I'd say that if either were advertised at over 50,000 miles, they probably need rebuilt... Unless you see proof of the actual milage of the vehicle is was taken from, expect the actual milage to be higher than what they're are telling you.

I don't mean to be mean but if you could aford to put an LS1 and 6speed in your 92 then you wouldn't be here asking this question. If I were guessing it would cost you at least twice what your car in exellent condition is worth, since this engine type was never installed in a third gen there would be a lot of fabrication of parts to be done to make this work. And if you think labor is expensive wait till you see the bill on the one off parts that have to be made. The LT1 and 6speed is doable but would probably cost around 4000 to 6000 if your car is an auto.

I dont think you were mean to me, The reason I asked about engine swap is because this is the only place I get info about my car and I dont know any places around here to get Info!! Im basically a Novice about these four stroke engines!! and also new to this Place{Im from India, Pursuing Masters Degree here in U.S.A, So not many friends who have these cars!} and coming to my car its 92 tbi with 44k miles now!! so its basically clean I bought it about 8 months back when it had 17k miles on it! I love the way they look, 3rd gens.. I mean Styling and so forth so thats the reason Im thinking of getting a new engine in it, I used to use a mustang GT{96} but I love this Camaro better than the Stang! may be its slower but I like the feel of Camaro! Thanks for the info and by the way my car is an Auto .. If its very expensvie for the swap I would buy a Camaro with better engine sometime later but I only would buy a third gen, like I said I love the way they look!
