Sealing Fuel Fittings
Getting ready to hook up my new fuel system and wanted y'alls opinions as to the best way to seal the fittings...thread sealer or top part of threads with teflon tape.....

Fuel system should have dry seals. If you can't get a good dry seal then you're using the wrong fittings. Try -AN fittings or brake line compression fittings.
Whatever you decide, DO NOT!!!!!! use teflon or thread sealant or you can plug your carb. This is common knowledge with experienced people. I don't care what others may tell you. Save yourself from a terrible headache.

Yeah....thought so. I had heard that before but was told they needed seals. My whole system that I bought has -AN fittings and 3/8 NPT adapters for the pump and regulator. Just figured I would see what "the experts" thought. Thanks for the re-assurance!

Don't over-tighten the NPT fittings either or they will leak.

I always do it by feel. Couldn't give you a number. They don't have to be very tight. It's better to leak a bit and run them down more than to tighten too far and have to get a new one. If you have an electric fuel pump it will be a piece of cake. Just clean up the mess before you get the engine nice and hot.
