My neighbor has a beautiful foreign exchange student from France. I showed her my Firebird (91 Formula with a 5.7L) She absolutely loves it and made me drive her around in it. She also claims never to have seen one before. I'm just curious how common are they in France and what's the French word for Firebird. Thanks.
There doesnt appear to be any french equivalent.
Nearest is "oiseau du feu" bird of fire. pronounced "wazzo doo fur" if you want to say it.
I'm not sure if there are any french members to ask, they seem as rare as ............... Firebirds atm.
"She also claims never to have seen one before"
I assume your still on about the car? Has she never seen an episode of "cavalier de chevalier" KnightRider??

It is a cross we have to bear! You lucky guy. R1UK's description is good, but I would reckon that because Firebird is a name, then it might still be known as Firebird.
Mark.

"I've the only Trans Am in the village!"
Thanks for the translation, I think I probably slaughtered the pronunciation by the look she gave me, but she at least understood what I was saying. She's only here for a couple weeks. I've been taking her out to see America (in the bird) but this is going to get off subject quick so I'll stop. Thanks again R1UK for the translation. It gave me some cookie points to help make the next couple weeks more enjoyable.
hello
In France, third gen F-bodies are really unknown. Lot's of people know the kinght Rider series (K2000 in french) but they don't know that the car is a Transam.
US cars in France are really unknown for lots of reasons.
GM never imports in France any F-bodies. So if you want one, you need to buy it un Germany. But it's very difficult to have license plates. Cause the law is different in France and you need to modify the car. For example, I bought a 92 RS in Germany on january. It cost me 6300 euros. To modify the car for yhe french law, it cost me aroud 2000 euros. To have license plates for a 305 ci costs about 700 euros. 9000 euros to drive a f-body...
For lots of french people, owning a collectible car means you are rich, especially if the car is an US car. Why? Cause in France, gazoline is very expensive. And a V8 needs lots of gazoline...
that's why there's not lot of 3rd gen fbodies in France... But we have a website dedicated for all f-bodies : Chevrolet Camaro, la troisième génération... with a great message board.
I know this is an old post, but here is what I was talking about. My neighbor is in the right. The left is the foreighn exchange student. Very sweet girl, but she's back in her own country now. So I give credit to all you people in europe.
