Flowmasters
Anyone out there with a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system? I am building a 406 small block chevy decent cam, mildly built 380-400 HP hopefully. I was just wondering how you guys like your flowmastes so far, im looking for a real loud exhaust so i got the american thunder 3 inch system with an 80 series muffler and i am really anxious to hear what its going to sound like.

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back w/ the 80 series muffler single 3" inlet dual 3" outlet. I like the sound, mellow deep rumble @ idle but screams when hard on the throttle. BTW my car is also equpped w/ SLP 1 5/8 headers & a hi-flo cat.

Yeah i got the 3 inch single cat back and looks like duals in the back, with two 3 inch polished pipes coming out. The kit came with the stainless polished pipe like you are talking about, not too shiny but i think it will good. I got one made for a single cat however i wont be running any cats and i have a hedman headers, hoping this combo will give me that nice loud rumble.

Just to let you know, on dyno tests on higher HP engines like you plan, it's been proven that the Hooker cat-back produces about 7 hp more than Flows. Just something to think about. Sound clip is in the signature. Of course if possible I would go with duals.

I love my Flowmaster. The Hooker sound nice but not as nice as my Flow.

allright guys, its time for another trip down to summit racing... i need to get a y pipe for my exhaust system. I have the American Thunder 3 inch cat back, with hedman shorty headers with a 3 inch collector and i am not running a cat. I looked at summit and the hedman y pipe is out of stock until august so what are my other options? Does flowmast make a y pipe for our cars?

Hey camarokev400
It just so happens that I have got a hedman Y-pipe for a single cat exhaust in my garage from my 87 IROC that I sold. It was installed for about 1 hour and the engine never ran with it on. It was $100 new. Make me an offer. send me an email to KGV@packereng.com
