Just finished SLP header install

WHAT A PITA!!!!

I just finished replacing my old Edelcraps with a set of SLP's 1 3/4" headers. It took nearly 8 hours with all the trouble I had. This was in a professional shop with a full set of tools. The Edelbrock's came out just as they went in - really easy. Just remove the AC compressor, power steering pump and a few brackets and they pulled right out. To install the driver's side SLP header the steering shaft had to come out. The header then "fit" into place with a little convincing. This side bolted right up. The steering shaft would not go back in. So I had to grind a bit off where it contacted the #5 primary. The passenger side slipped in from the top real easy - but only the two middle bolt holes lined up. The outer four were off just enough to not be able to start the threads. After an hour of cussing and prying I finally got them all in. The SLP y-pipe didn't line up with the exhaust either!! I had to cut my old y-pipe to temporarily fit everything. I had to fabricate new brackets for my AC compressor and power steering pump. And those damn spacers for accessory brackets!!! AGGHHH - trying to find bolts that will fit... THANK *** FOR ALLEN HEAD BOLTS!

However, spark plug changes are MUCH easier now. No more #2 primary running in the poorest possible place. No more AIR injection to leak. No more AIR tubes to make running plug wires a nightmare. No more rust. The quality of these SLP's are so far superior to the Edelbrock it's ridiculous - just look at the collectors. They sound better too. No more resonance around 2200RPM. The motor breathes better too - it definately pulls better above 3500RPM.

For the price you pay they should be more user friendly. My Edelbrock installed in under two hours - and everything bolted right up. No hassles.

Sorry, but the old Edelbrock's are spoken for. Besides, all the AIR tubes were leaking around the welds, and they were quite rusty after 6 years
