What do you guys think the loudest muffler is ?
I have Edelbrock headers, no cats and a 3 inch catback going into a crossflow 2 chamber flowmaster. I want it louder. I dont think it's loud enough. I was thinking of tucking in two 1 chamber flowmasters under the gas tank, kinda like the corvettes, or simple get a different brand of muffler. What's louder then a 2 chamber in a crossflow design ?

Bigger headers & y-pipe along with Mufflex's 4" cat back. It utilized a single outlet Flowmaster 2-chamber. Or spintech. Apparently among the best exhaust systems out there, if you have the horsepower.

I have yet to hear anything as good as the old-fashioned big-tube sidepipes of the 60's and 70's. They connect directly to the header collectors and the pipe diameters were around 3" to 4" depending on the brand.
I don't know if your '92 Z28 would "look right" with sidepipes, but that's up to you.

you could also give it a bigger cam and better heads, if you haven't already. it'll make it louder. And give you MORE POWER!!

If it breaks, it wasn't good enough anyway.

Well I'm runing straigt pipes now. Headers... catback .. > cut-out. It sounds pretty loud. But what I was looking for is something in between the nice and mellow sound of the muffler and this annoying loud cut-out I have. That's why I asked for the loudest muffler I have the Flowmaster 2 chamber and it's pretty loud, but I want something louder.

I don't know first hand how true this is, but I heard that MIDAS (of all places) now makes a performance muffler called "RAVEN" I heard it won some sound contest. The design is a wave, rather than the "echo" design of Flowmaster's. So it flows beter, and still gives a clean sound. Again, I don't know the sound first hand, only heard about it, and thought I'd mention it

Looks like they only make the "quiet" muffler for our cars. The louder "Z-33" model is not made in the crossflow configuration required for our fbodies :/

If all else fails and you can't get an earsplitting exhaust sound, you could always try the ***** solution:
Play tapes of a nitromethane-burning funny car over the loudest sound system that you can pack into the car!!
