for my 84 t/a L69, would an edelbrock cat-back with their system sound good or should i go with flowmasters? Any other suggestions?

Edelbrocks are quiet, great quality, and have a lifetime warranty
Flowmaster sound like hillbilly truck, and are VERY LOUD!!
Hooker Catbacks are the best deal @ $260, flow awesome, sound the best, wont rust

I just ordered Edelbrock 3" for my car, but it won't be here for another week and a half. I wanted one that was a little quitter because i have a sound system. $299

Get the edelbrock, it sounds much better in my opinion, and if you shop around you can find them pretty cheap. I got mine off Racesearch.com for 232 shipped to my door. It sounds great with headers and a high flo cat too!

Does the edelbrock system come with dual tips? What about the Hooker system? I know the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back does, and I like the look, how about Hooker and Edelbrock though?

I don't know why people think Edelbrock's are quiet. I have SLP 1 5/8" headers, a 3" HF catco cat, and an Edelbrock catback with rectangular 4th gen tips. I bet when I'm up in the revs, its as loud as a flowmaster system, but not raspy and hollow sounding. At idle its a deep rumble, and while cruising at 22-2400 rpm's, its a subtle growl. I love how my Edelbrock sounds, but the fit sucked. I had to notch the 3" mandrel bend that goes over the axle and kicks into the muffler, bend it about 5*, and weld it back up. Now that its all sorted out, I love it though. See if you can just get the edelbrock muff, and get the intermediate pipe, axle pipe, and tailpipes somewhere else. $299 for their catback is kinda steep, and it doesn't even fit that great.

I have 3" TES, Catco cat, and Edelbrock cat-back...sounds great, soft when you want it to be, loud when you want it to be...like the old musclecars. Not obnoxious, not white trash, dual outlets, lifetime warranty = good stuff. Had the mechanic put it in, and he has some fit problems, but nothing that wasn't fixable. Hope you find what you like! Edelbrock's got a couple sound files on their website at www.edelbrock.com with full Edelbrock exhaust on a 4thgen 5.7...pretty close, but of course not the same quality...oh well, reply if you want more of my inexpert opinion.

I have Edelbrock’s cat back on my 305 TA with stock headers and my 350 GTA with 1 ¾ SLP’s and they both sound great. It’s like Jason said, they are not raspy, hollow sounding, and loud like the Flowmaster. They are rather quiet compared to most aftermarket mufflers when you are at idle. It has a nice rumble that’s far better then stock but when you stomp they come alive and sound very ferocious. People will hear you coming. Oh yeah, not to mention when they get blown out as they get older they start sounding better.
