How to keep collectors bolts tight ?
I've had an ongoing problem with collector gaskets that keep burning out. Tonite I just changed one AGAIN. I noticed the bolts were pretty loose when I took them off. I used those "slit circle" type of locking washers to keep the bolts from loosening. What else can I do ? Should I use different types of washers until one works ? Use two nuts on each screw ? Any ideas ?

Double nut them with dead soft aluminum gaskets, unless they are warped badly, that should cure it.

Like any components that heats up the metal expands when it heat and shrinks when it cools.. Tighten them down when they are cold, then crank the car and let it get to normal temp then let the car cool down(completly, to where the metal is cold again) and tighten them some more, do this 3 times.. It is time consuming but the best way to get them tightend all the way down...
Then if you blow one and the bolts are still tight you probrably have a slight warp on the flange... Good luck...
