CAT Heat shield under car, Can I remove?

Im talking about the heat shield that is bolted to the underside of the car where the cat used to be. I guess it was there to keep heat from under the passenger seat...
I no longer have a CAT just a straight pipe so would it be ok to remove that and leave it off? Reason Im asking is because Im going to get my MAC SFC's welded and that piece gets in the way.

You can remove it if you do not have a cat. Cats get very hot and that shield is needed there when you run one.

Excellent, thats what I wanted to Hear. I already removed it since it has to come out anyways for the SFC's to go in...I just didnt know if I had to put it back on.

I had the same thing...it was rattling with my speakers so I removed it. I do not have a cat. Nothing happening under there, so yea...no cat=no problems

Amen. It seems I tend to fix one rattle, and find three more
