exhaust cut out with tbi

exhaust cut out with tbi

if i run an exhaust cut out before my cat on my 89 tbi, will i trip any codes on my computer?

or do i need to run it after my cat?

It will be fine. I run a cut-out and No cat.

Having it open will lean things out, as it cuases the exaust to scavange the cyls better. If you have the ability to tune, you might need to richen things up a hair.

Pictures can be seen there. It is 3" because I have a 3" catback, and 3" Y-pipe. I flanged everything, so my cat is a bolt-in switch now.

nice, i like the interchangeability for smog purposes. good idea. i could probably do that with a straight pipe and keep some backpressure on the system and sound better going through my flowmaster, huh. any sound clips of your cutout?

I will add, my car will sound diffrent than yours will, Mine motor is cammed, so it has quite a diffrent sound that a stock LO3
