SLP 1 3/4" Headers + Vortec Heads
I've got vortec heads...I was seriously thinking about the SLPs. Will I have any problems with the straight plugs or anything?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The SLP's worked great for me with plug access. The only TIGHT plug was #3. It required me to use a short/cut socket. Using short spark plugs would make the job flawless.

I have GM Vortech L31 heads and SLP 1-3/4" working just fine but you need to look at the upper exhaust port matchup to the headers, Vortech heads have raised ports about .100" this can be higher than some headers SLP included causing poor flow if any work needs to be done do it to the header, other than mild casting cleaning doing port work on Vortech heads can go backwards. Note: look at the Head exhaust port bolt holes in relationship to the port centerline it is visible. Also I had to wrap mine they are thin and run very hot !

SLPs aren't too thin, 17ga tubing. There's only one or two other brands/models that are 16ga. I will attest to them running hot though. Just got em in yesterday. Pulled the weatherstripping off the back edge of the hood to move a bit more air. Already had the hood insulation off a few days ago. Haven't had any cooling problems at all, but they do run warm.

Different engine setups run different temperatures, I melted some of the plastic components near my headers including the rubber parts on the steering coupler and cooling fan temp switch on the right head once I wrapped them problem gone.
Good Luck!

slp and vortec
also just installed SLP 1 3/4 on Vortec heads this weekend. Needed to clearance the tube closest to the steering column (yea motor mounts are good), and slightly enlarge the rear mounting hole on drivers side. Other than that, they fit and seal WAY better than the Hedmans they replaced. (will sell cheap !). Have not noticed any problems with heat yet. SLP sells a cut and machined spark plug wrench for getting to the #3 and #5 plug. AC R44LTS plugs have the long internal reach the Vortec's need and the short outside length to aid in header clearance.
