longer = quieter
Glasspacks are gonna be loud on an engine making any real power regardless, but longer ones will quiet it down a bit more. Of course, anything with glasspacks on it won't be breathing really well anyway....

The length is meaningless once the exhaust has enough speed to make the perforated core useless for absorbing sound. Once you reach X-rpm (2600 is the best I've gotten).. the muffler will dampen noise like open/straight pipe does (without the awful straight pipe noise for whatever reason).
The larger 'muffler' will quiet better 'grannying' around though.

Hmm... I don't know about that. My Hooker Aerochamber gets pretty loud when you floor it, but not anywhere near as loud as when I had straight pipes on it (which, incidentally, happens to be the reason I bought a new muffler).

The Hooker muffler is also not a straight piece of perforated tube stuffed in a larger case and a little insulation packed in so it can still be called a muffler.
Bullets have a fairly basic design... flow.
