SLP headers
Are the SLP 1 3/4 headers going to be too large for a stock 90 TA LB9?

That was my train of thought but i just wanted to make sure that they wouldnt be any worse than the stock manifolds.

SLP's
They are for sure better than your stock manifolds. Buy them now, and when you upgrade to the 350, you won't have to start over with the exhaust. If you really think you will upgrade, you will be money ahead to go ahead and pipe it for the 350.

Do the SLP 1 3/4 AIR headers come with an O2 bung or do you need to weld one in? I see that SLP has a bung for sale on their site.

O2 bung
The O2 bung should come already on the header. My SLP's are non A.I.R. and the O2 bung was already on the driver's side collector. You can contact SLP for a definite answer. Here is their link:

I would like a pair of SLPs but I've also heard negative things about installation involving brake lines and the steering shaft. I also realize that there is absolutey no way possible to know if they will clear my steering shaft or not, but should I just go ahead and buy new motor mounts anyways? Also, am I going to need new brackets or anything? I noticed SLP has an Installation kit...

SLP's
The brake line clearance isn't that big of an issue. I had to bend mine a little so they would not be touching the primary, but it was quite easy with the help of a small prybar. As for the steering shaft, some people reccommend removing the bolt so the shaft can be moved over during installation. I didn't mess with mine. It was tight, but the driver's side did go in from the top.
The install kit is pretty good, comes with new bolts, gaskets, and some heat sheild tubing. Although it comes with bolts, you will still need to reuse some of the old bolts that are stud/bolts.
You will need to modfy the A/C bracket. You'll notice it bolts to two of the manifold stud/bots along with the fuel line bracket. When the headers are installed, the bracket will not fit over the primary. You will need to cut off the rear leg of the bracket. You can buy a custom bracket, but it's just a stock bracket with the rear leg cut off.
As for the fuel line bracket, you'll need to bend the bracket and use one bolt hole on the front header stud, rather than both holes on two studs.
Hope this helps. Here's a photo of the driver's side. I'll try to get you a better image of the bracket mods if you like.

Buy them coated or at least get them ceramic coated before you install them. I kick myself now for being a cheap-*** when I did my motor swap and buying the uncoated ones. At the time, I didn't really have the money in the budget to get them coated. Now I'm in a rut because the car is my daily driver, and even if I wanted to take them off and send them somewhere to be coated, I'd be without a car to drive to work in.
I once popped my hood after driving around town because I wanted to check my coolant level, and a dried up leaf fell from the windshield wiper area down onto the header and started smoldering and then caught fire. The only thing I could think to do was swat at it and blow on it, to try and get it to fall off the header or go out. Lucky for me it, it fell on the pavement and went out instantly. Scary situation!
Right after, I went to the car wash and sprayed off the remaining dried up leaves and then went to Wal-mart and bought one of those tiny fire extinguishers, just in case anything like that ever happens again. You never know when one might come in handy.
So anyway, for my 2 cents worth, get them coated. lol

I just installed a set of SLP 1 3/4 headers on my '92 firebird. I had to unbolt the steering shaft but wasnt to bad. Bolted up fairly easy. Had no problem with clearance issues.

I've had the SLP #30000 1-5/8" headers w/ AIR, 3" CAT adapter & Install kit #30018. Went in fine. No trouble with the install, though I ended up not using much from the install kit, as I already bought ARP bolts for the headers.
A little initial contact with the steering column and brake lines, but not too much trouble shifting things around to fit.
Mine are also uncoated, and are brownish color, but still in excellent shape after over 50,000 miles.
Also, I'm using Moroso Steel Mounts on the motor, crossmember and tranny.
Steel mounts free up a lot of working space around the bottom of the motor and will not wear out. Still like new.
