Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
Personaly I think they had an exhaust leak and was sniffing fumes before they came up with those prices...my local exhaust shop will do a 3" cat back all mandrel bent with a flowmaster 3" in and dual 2 1/2" outs with lifetime warranty installed for $300!

He said stainless steel. We are not talking aluminized tubing here..

Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
The only benifit of stainless is it will last longer but like I said my local exhaust shop will hook me up for $300 with a lifetime warranty so if you could go that route would you realy need stainless?

You realize you could buy a magnaflow which is also all SS for $200 cheaper and ill bet the quality is just as good or better.

The magnaflow is hard to compare because they don't have an exhaust that's thirdgen-specific. You have to modify a 4th gen system, which while well within the abilities of many folks, still makes it useless as an apples-apples comparison.

Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
That's not the point. You could make one out of flex pipe for $50 too, but regardless of your personal opinion of stainless vs. regular steel, there IS a price difference associated with the premium material. Some people are happy with a $200 set of Futura tires that will no doubt last just as long as a quality pair of Nittos or BFGs, yet that in no way means that the Nittos or BFGs aren't worth the premium price.

So anybody have a sound clip of this exhaust yet? I know everyone has been buying the longtubes but why not the exhaust...it IS cheaper than Borla...maybe not such a name recognition but still SS and 3"

Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
I had talked with Bruce about his Cat Back, it was designed to be a premium quality setup to replace and fit EXACTLY like the stock system, with the tips hidden back under the bumper (all others have some kind of tip that sticks out beneath the bumper). It is not cheap, loud or flashy, it is designed and built for, uh, more mature and discriminating owners. I'm not sure how many of those there are in Third-Gens, but it was designed for a show car and they decided to produce it.

Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
So what I get from this is the system is quiet? IDK im just looking for a cat-back Stainless Steel for the cheapest I can get, as I will have a cut out right before my cat...off the y-pipe facing towards the rear (so this way people dont get their legs bruned when standning next to my car)
Plus, I like the hide-away tips, I think it shows off my girls fine *** better...haha.
Anyway thanks for relaying this info, I might just go ahead and buy it. My only problem is I still have to get emissions done so here is what im dealing with.
Hooker 2460 Headers
Hooker 2460 Y-Pipe (2.5" to cat-back)
2.5" Catco High Flow Catalytic Converter
Thing is the y-pipe is 2.5" all the way to the catback, so I need an exhaust that has a 2.5" inlet but flares to a 3" the rest of the way.
My buddy had a 2.5" exhaust when he got his done so he didnt need any modding, Im not sure what to do as I dont want flowmaster and they are the only one who make the intermediate pipe 2.5" for the cat and 3" the rest of the way back. Here it is.....
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I think this is the only way out....as I cant have any customizing done, I dont have the $$$ right now and JUST NEED to get it running and driving for this coming spring/summer.
Let me know of anything I could do....
I was thinking of taking my y-pipe to a shop and having them cut off some of the y-pipe and adding a 3" piece and flange on the end so I can use the 3" exhaust I want from Hooker....the Aerochamber

Re: Hawks stainless exhaust
You know, for all their preaching about good ground clearance to justify that price (I know it's stainless too, but that's not all of it), they still go under the crossmember like every other dual setup I've ever seen, and that's where all the trouble is. Not even oval tubing there... So what's this huge improvement in ground clearance they're talking about? You still got 2.5 inch pipes going under the crossmember...
