Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

Does anyone have any pictures of a cherry bomb on their Camaro? I have no idea what to buy or anything. Any advice would help. I have a 1990 Camaro RS 5.0 305. There is one pipe running from the front to the back of the car then the that pipe enters into a big oval cylinder thing then 2 pipes come out and form the 2 exhaust tips. I dont know if thats a true dual exhaust or not. Please help.

Just wondering what model to get and where to put it.

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

As far as I'm aware true dual exhaust is when you have two seperate pipes running from each exhaust manifold on the engine to the rear. It sounds to me like you have a Y-pipe running to a single pipe and right on back. The oval cylinder thing is your muffler, you then have two pipes leaving your muffler.

I believe that a cherry bomb replaces the muffler entirely. But I'm not sure if they make cherry bombs that have one inlet and two exhausts (too lazy to look :P).

Generally on a vehicle (my truck for example) you remove the cats, and the muffler, and replace it with something like the Cherry Bomb. I have glass packs on my truck.

Hope that helped and that I didn't say something wrong. Someone will correct me if I did.

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

Is there any way i can keep 2 exhausts coming out of the back or would i have to just go with one?

And also about halfway back on the exhaust pipe there is something that i think is a catalytic converter? Did you do anything with that or just leave it on there?

If you look on their website, you can choose whatever style and whatever size you want. I chose to have only one outlet. Are you going to be doing this yourself?
I needed a full exhaust from the headers back, so I got an exhaust shop to do everything, and eliminate the converter. It is illegal to remove the converter, though. Are you upgrading the pipe from the converter back?

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

Im probably going to get my cousin to weld everything together. All i want to do is to take out the muffler and add the cherry bomb where that went then run 2 pipes from there out the back. So im not replacing anything but the muffler.

By removing the catalytic converter does it make it any louder or is it not worth it?

Plus what size should i get or doesnt it matter?

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

I had (and this is my truck again) removed the cats because the membrane inside of them had gotten so clogged up over the years. Supposedly it was supposed to give an extra horse power or two. Who knows. I just know that old cats can cause back pressure and hurt the exhaust system, however new cats shouldn't really cause much trouble from my understanding. I suppose it could also depend on the emission laws in your state.

Do you know which muffler you are going to get?

I would leave the cataltyic converter on. It's really not worth fooling with unless you are upgrading the whole system and looking for maximum gains. I suppose if the converter is rusted through or in really bad condition, you might replace it. I didn't replace mine because I was on a tight budget at the time.

Ive been looking at these for a little while now and this one says camaro in the picture. I didnt realize this is the same shape as my muffler. So it should just go right in.

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

That is the stock style single in, dual out. it'll give you the dual exhaust look they had originally. They also have the 7467 which is the same but with a 2 1/2" inlet instead of the 3, Check you current exhaust but i beleive yours should be a 2 1/2" you can get a reducer for the 3" but if you can get a direct fit why not.

It looks like you would need # 7467, the one with 2 1/2 all around.

Re: Does anyone have a cherry bomb?

When most people say "Cherry Bomb" they are talking about a straight through glass pack muffler. Don't have a photo of one on the car.
Cherry Bomb is the manufacturer and they make a whole lot of stuff other than just mufflers.
Where you asking about a glass pack muffler for your car or something else?

Cherry Bomb is a brand, and they produce a lot of different mufflers.
