header question. car or engine type??
I'm about to buy a 87 IROC. It has a 5.7L TPI out of a 92 Vette in it. Years ago I bought Headman long tubes but never used them. They're still brand new. I bought them for a crate 5.7L called the 330hp crate. It was a vortech motor I believe that had 380 lbs of tq
Will these work on the 87 IROC/92 vette motor??

I've helped install longtubes in an 89 Formula.
It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had installing headers. And the header is still sitting on his driver's side brake line. His ground clearance sucks too. If not for his new springs making his car ride like a 4x4, he would be scraping everywhere.

Re: header question. car or engine type??
yes, it will work with that engine in that car and ground clearance won't be an issue if they are the same Hedman's i've got on my car- they are less than 1/4" lower than the frame rails. i had to dent one tube on each side to clear the frame, and bent the brake line about 1/2" to get it away from one tube. they slid right in from the bottom with the engine bolted down- i had a big oil filter on it and the starter was out of the car, but there was a ton of room to get a big full size HD starter up in there.i also didn't have the spark plugs in the engine, either, but that's just standard header installation protocol.
i have no complaints at all about the headers themselves- but the stupid way the engineers at GM designed the floorpans of these cars leaves something to be desired.. my y pipe is 3" off the ground where it goes under the trans crossmemberand after 10,000 miles of driving this summer, my 2.5" lead pipes are smashed down to 2" right under the trans crossmember..
