Another straight pipe question

Ok, i want so say that by no means is this my first choice but my exhaust is way too low with my flowmaster 40's hanging down and i dont have the money to replace it from the block back until spring. The whole exhaust is shot and the header flanges are warped as are the collecters so it just blows gaskets. My question is would the car sound ok with the mufflers gone and the straight duals or like general sh**?

Re: Another straight pipe question

I think all hot rods should have straight exhaust, be careful not to get a ticket. If you drive by a police officer don't let all the way off the gas or give it gas. Also, if one stop next to you at a stop sign (which will happen) let them go first. Good luck

Re: Another straight pipe question

just jam a pair of glasspacks under there and call it good.. get nice big ones- they are actually not as annoyingly loud as the smaller ones. right now, the exhaust on my Camaro is the Hedman full length headers, a home made 2.5" Y pipe that merges into a 3" single pipe that has a 3" Cherry Bomb glasspack with a 3" 90 degree bend that exits in front of the right rear wheel.. it's fairly loud, but mellow, and i can listen to the radio at a decent volume at 75mph on the interstate.. but it's pretty low- it bounced off the smallest bumps.. but it's almost time to park the car for the winter.. i'll make something better later on..

That's what my problem is and I don't want to spend money on glasspacks will also hang low especially if its all going to scrap in the spring. As of now I can't hear the radio unless it's idling.

Re: Another straight pipe question

I'd like to hear a similarly built small block before i do it. I have heard people's straight piped 305's and low comp 350's and they just sound awful, im hoping this would be a bit nicer than that.
