Headers needed.
I'm rebuilding the engine in my 82 z28. It should be putting out about 500 hp. The headers that are on the car have the collectors cut off and pipe welded in. The driver side goes between the front of the oil pan and the front cross member or cradle. The pipe is extremely close to the oil pan and I don't like it at all. I do run a oil temp gauge.
What I am looking for is the best option for headers so as not to restrict the output of the engine. I have a sbc and super t10 in it so I'm not sure if any ypipe will work?I probably wont find one for that combo. I can fab one up later. I would like to get the engine and headers installed as soon as it comes back from the shop.
Any info from the resident experts would be appreciated.

Being that you have a Manual in the car, you can fit a set of true dual's in the car if you want. I'd recommend looking at the ones Dyno Don offers, they are specifically made to fit our cars
If you had an auto I'd recommend either the Dyno Don or Hooker 2055 models as both are shorty headers with included Y-pipe built to fit our cars.
The last question is, are you someplace that needs emissions testing? If you are, having true duals on your car may fail the visual inspection portion of the inspection.

No I don't need emission testing. With the duals do you run them into a single dual inlet muffler or dump them in front of the axle? Can you get both pipes over the rear end?
I don't want it loud or the dreaded drone so any advice on mufflers would be appreciated also. Right now it has a stock sounding three inch exhaust, I like it low key. Maybe a little throatier than stock but not even approaching obnoxious is what I'm looking for if that helps with suggestions.
Every time I read Dyno Don on here I think of Mr. Nicholson. It's not the same Don is it?
