What would you guys say would give me the best combo of performance and sound. This is my weekend car that doesn’t get started up early in the morning so waking the neighbors isn’t an issue and neither is emissions. I would like the car to be “stupid” loud, as it’s just my fun car and I enjoy that. Yes, I am considering straight piping It unless someone can talk me out of It here’s some new pics i snapped the other day, car is bone stock currently.
Loud does not often mean performance. Exhaust should be tuned to the engine horsepower output for optimal performance, pipe size, muffler restriction, dual pipes or single large pipe etc.
If performance is what you want do a search for the proper exhaust pipe/muffler combo that works for our 220 or so hp.
Stupid load is easy but you may actually hurt performance especially if you go straight pipe with no restriction on a stock engine. I would not recommend this, but as the saying goes it is your car and do what you will. I would recommend if this is what you want to remove your Cat and muffler, replace the Cat with an old school Cherry Bomb muffler. You may be able to "Y" the over the axle pipe to tie into the dual pipes that normally come out of the muffler to retain the dual exhaust look. If that is to load you could add another Cherry Bomb in place of the stock muffler and just use a single pipe from there.

also, my car has the upgraded stock dual cat exhaust, if that makes a difference. I want things that i can just order and have shipped right to my mechanic that he can throw on for me
I think I'd check with the manufacturer directly to be sure.
Hawks is also selling that kit, advertising it as '82-'02 (third and fourth gen F-bodies). From what I've read, the 3rd and 4th gen system are very alike, except for the location of one hanger. But again, I'd get that advice right from the seller.
Straight pipes sound like junk on street cars. You want at least a resonator and / or a straight through kind of muffler to attenuate some of the shrill, metallic noises that come out of the engine. If you're keeping the cats, then that might be enough to be straight piped from there back, but in general you do want at least something.
My car had the L03. I bought a 4th gen 3" Flowmaster catback,Flowmaster 2.5 to 3" connector for the neckdown on the Y, hooker headers and Dougs D901 y-pipe and a piece of 3" pipe where the cat used to be. Nice sounding setup to help the 350 breathe

A 3" exhaust is fine performance wise.
Larger pipe is louder, like a Mufflex 4" exhaust system. Straight thru mufflers are loud, even if full size. Headers will help bring out the sound of the lope in the cam.
I personally can't stand cars that are loud for the sake of being loud. They lack quality of the sound and just end up being obnoxious. If you want high quality sound then don't build for sound -- build for performance and the sound will take care of itself.
I have a set of dyno dons headers w a 3 inch intermediate pipe to a spintech cross flow muffler to dual 3 outlets. The outlets are both turn down/hidden like the stock setups. It's pretty loud but has a tuned sound and isn't headache inducing on long drives. It doesn't sound like a fart can exhaust, I have an EFI zz430 and this setup gives a balanced sound. A straight pipe on a mostly stock engine will not be a good combo sound wise/power wise or headache wise!
