You would still need the switch. The connection with the purple wire attaches to the switch. The red wire (I think) is your hot, you would snip the connection off the end, and wire to your fuse box via an inline fuse holder. Search around the site, people do it different ways. The later cars (88+) had the fog wiring as part of the main light harness; the earlier cars had a separate harness like this.
