tail light blackout

looking for a tail light blackout for my 89 t/a.
i saw Summit racing sells them but there're no pictures of it and it says "not available for trans am".
i also checked out Hawks, and the site site "except for trans am" too! also, their pic is of a 4th gen! what gives!

can someone help me out here?

does anyone have this piece(s)?

thanks.

Re: tail light blackout

so....what's the difference, other than the look, between the firebird tail lights and a trans am's?
why would a blackout work for one but not the other? i'm a little confused by this.

....someone out there gotta be able to shed some light on this!

Re: tail light blackout

im guessing it may be because of the shape of the lense..i think the trans am lights 'bubble out' in the middle. . like if ur looking at them from the side they are like ) and the base firebird lights are more flat like | from a sideview

Re: tail light blackout

I think the Trans Am lights have the flat part at the bottom. Also the trans ams are already tinted. I have a set on my 91 Formula I will pull them off and see if they will fit on my 87 GTA and let you know what the deal is

Re: tail light blackout

Ok took one side off my formula and hld it up to the gta they fit the only problem is the velcro strip at the bottom of the blackout does not make contact on the gta taillight. the gta/trans am taillight has the flat piece at the bottom and it is recessed a bit. I'm sure you could step out the bottom of the taillight with maybe a small piece of plastic double sided taped to the bottom of the taillight. hope this helps.
