Custom Accessory mount plate

I'm thinking of making an accessory mount plate that bolts between the water pump and the block. I don't like the fact to get the heads off or the exhaust manifolds u have to take the belt and mountings off think its a lame design. So i recon a nice fat sheet of aluminum with appropriate holes and adapt some of the existing mounts to fit on to it would bypass the problem. Of course looking pretty sweet in the process. Anyone done this already, or am i the only crackpot to think of it?!

Re: Custom Accessory mount plate

The plate would have to bolt to more than just the 4 WP bolts, and would end up being probably a half inch think to be rigid enough. Its really not that hard to remove a handful of bolts and pull the accessories. besides, how often are you going to be pulling heads?

Re: Custom Accessory mount plate

Your right it isnt so much bother to remove the bolts and i guess i wont be changing heads so often but still, for other handy accessories such as belt driven turbo and active crankcase evac system, it would be neat. There are plates u can buy but i have no idea if any of the holes they have on them would prove useful. I did say i was crackpot!

How often do you change cyl heads to warrant a complete reworking of the accessory mounting system?
