Ram air intake for a WS-6 Ram air hood, need advice.

So I want to know your opinions on the best kind of intake for my specific hood. Its a WS-6 Ram air hood like the 4th gen firebird hoods, and it is functional. What do you guys think would be best kind of air intake for the hood. Some time of custom cold air intake that can benefit from the hood. Or a Ram air type. ( I really dont know the difference) Or is just a nice Open air element intake just fine for the hood. Or should I just run some cold air intake towards the driver fender infront of the headlight and just forget about the air going into the 2 nostril things. My engine is a 305 TBI

Thank you in advance for your opinions and advice!

Hawk's has just what you need:

Also, a "cold air" intake picks up cooler, therefore denser, air from a location cooler than the area around the top of the engine.

"Ram Air" goes one better. It takes advantage of the fact that as the car plows through the air at speed, the air is pressurized where it flows over the nose and hood. This high pressure area forces or "rams" more air into the intake. In theory. Many claim that you really don't get enough of the ram effect to make a noticeable difference in performance. But who cares! It's cool to say you have "ram air" induction, and the things look cool!

I dont think i can get that to fit on my engine. That one on hawks is a TPI setup and I have a 305 TBI.
Do you think I can run a plenum from the top of my Carb to the filter and make it work?

Or you could get the Extreme Velocity carb hat and use the ram air kit from Hawks. Expensive way to go, but it would be ram air...
