I still have my unit from way back when stephen was selling them. These things are awesome. Im glad your making them again as I might have to buy me a set for this camaro im looking at picking up. Also does anyone know where I can get some LED red bulbs for the rear that are plug and play? I'll do a search later just thought if someone had the answer I wouldnt have to look.

I'm pretty sure I've pulled my turn flasher out & the hazards still worked. So if I'm right, you'll need 2 slower flashers to make it all work slower.

When I did mine, the hazards worked fine with the stock flasher, turn signals did not.

Btw, our F-bodies have two flashers. One for the standard turn signals (clipped to the side of the fuse box) and one for the hazard signals (plugged into the "convenience center"). They are separate flashers, the hazard flasher should be definitely slower (since it handles higher current loads).
The one problem that might occur (depending on vehicle and flasher) that if you use the hazard flasher in place of the turn signal flasher, the turn signal might not flash, it might just stay on (or one side will flash slowly, the other one will stay on). This is due to the design of the flashers - these are electro-mechanical LOAD-dependent flashers, not the newer style electronic no-load flashers.

Just got mine in, works like a charm, very satisfied, and apparently i have the wrong flasher in there, but not complaining. My turn signals are really slow (perfect speed for these sequentials) and my 4 ways are rediculously fast, so i need to get another slow one for my hazards and i'll be 100% happy. Thanks Lou!

Not sure of numbers at this moment, but your four way flasher is slower than your actual turn signal flasher. If you replace the turn signal flasher with one designed for the four ways you will have the slower flashers I do. Not sure, age of the flasher may attribute some of the slowness, which works out greatly.

The stock turn signal flasher for my 91 bird was a 225 flasher. and the stock hazard flasher is a 552 flasher. The 225 flasher was way to fast for the incandesent bulbs. the 552 flasher slowed it down but was still a bit to fast the last bulb didn't have enough time to burn bright like the inner two. i switched to LEDs and that fixed the problem. I have a no load adjustable flasher for sale if anyone is interested.

I tried that exact same one on incandescent bulbs & it burned up within 2 minutes, despite being advertised for any bulb & not just for LEDs.

Did you use it before switching to LEDs?

If you mean the adjustable flasher no i didn't. I had ordered the adjustable flasher and two days later i was at Autozone looking at the LED bulbs and desided to give them a try. took them home put them in and was happy with the speed of the turn/hazards.
When i had ordered the adj. flasher i did not see where it said that there is a 15% restocking fee so instead of spending and losing money on this thing i'll find someone to buy it from me.

I put mine in (got it through Amazon).

I installed it. Turned on the flasher. Walked to the back to look. Too fast to me, so I got back inside. Shut it off. Adjusted the screw all the way down. Turned it back on. Got out to look at the speed...Nothing. Wouldn't fire up again no matter what I tried. Needless to say, I sent it back. Amazon got it yesterday & I'm waiting for the refund to be applied to my account now.

Still looking for another one, because I've never seen an LED bulb that could light up the complete lens good without looking like a small circular light behind the big red lens. That & I'd need 8 bulbs for my car. At (give or take) $10 each? I'm not gonna spend $80 on bulbs!

I'll definitely post up some pictures, or at least a link when I'm done, but that will be a LONG time from now. As I said, I'm moving this weekend, and will finally have a garage. The work will begin a couple weeks from now, and I've got a whole lot of modifcation and restoration to go. All I have right now is an old Z and a plan. A third gen and a '70-72 convertible Vette (for the wife) will be next. Anyhow, here's a link to what I have to start with. Looking at an LS swap with a T56 just to start.

I believe I posted the link to the adjustable flasher that I got and is working perfectly...also get used to prices for bulbs. you need a bulb like this


that burns red, burning white will make your taillights pink.

You need light to shine around the whole inside of the housing. Mine have over 30 leds on each bulb. I spent $30 per pair...x 3 pairs...just for tails/turn signals. everything else in the car is led too.

You've mentioned this a few times now, what LED bulbs did you use?

I got mine installed today (I think mine was from the first or second batch, way back when) and had a number of problems, none of them related to the actual unit (though at one point it did seem that way). My '87 TA is wired like the GTA instructions, but the outside and middle bulbs were swapped. I got myself into trouble assuming "I have a TA, I'll just follow those directions and swap the location of the sockets."

First I ended up with the lights running backwards (towards the inside rather then from the inside out), then when I rewired it looked like it wasn't working at all. I finally figured out that the flasher was running so fast that it was only lighting up the inside bulb.

A couple of other things:
- If it looks confusing look at the universal instructions, those are easy, the how to do it for a specific TA/GTA instructions are confusing.
- Don't leave the center filler someplace hot. I took my taillights apart Thursday night, and my center panel sat in the car under the hatch all yesterday. The front face actually melted- there is some carpet stuck to it and the bottom is all warped, it doesn't fit back correctly and is really obvious looking at it from the top or the side.

One unit can sequence TWO tail lights separately, with up to 3 bulbs in each.

You mentioned that you have 4 bulbs per side. You could:
a) remove one bulb and sequence only 3
b) connect 1 & 2 (counting from the inside), they would light up together and then you can sequence 3 and 4. So the sequence would go 1&2, 3, 4. At the flashing speed, it's pretty un-noticeable.
c) if you wish, you could buy two units and sequence each tail light with one unit, giving you the full 4-bulb sequencing effect.

im definately getting one for my camaro.two questions.the stock camaro has one brake light on each side.using this kit will i still have one brake light on each side or three?question number two.i have a buick that has three combined brake/turn lights per side.will this work on it?

Depends on how you wire it up and how you modify your tail lights. There are numerous options and it really depends on which way you'd like to go.
You can either keep the brake light separate from turn signals (possible but uncommon) or you can integrate the brake lights and turn signals to work just like on a GTA (most common) when sequencing the tail lights.
You'll probably want to change the amber lens to a red lens which is done two ways: by replacing that section of the plastic lens or by spray painting it with Candy Apple Translucent Red made by Testors (available at SprawlMart for $7, IIRC).
There are multiple threads about those modifications on this board. I'm sure you'll find a good answer there.

Yes, this unit is NOT specific to third generation F-bodies. It will work on ANY standard 12V vehicle with common negative ground. I have it on my Mustang, people have put it on old 1960's Chevies, on old Fords, old Pontiacs, I've seen them on Corvettes etc.

I installed one of the STS units on my Camaro over 2 years ago and it is still going strong. The instructions are a little confusing for an install on a Camaro but Lou helped me figure them out and I'm sure he'll help you too.

I even bothered to wire in the front turn signals so my brake lights don't come on in sequence. Works great!
