made a gauge plate work out good

when i went to the Big block i went to all autometer gauges but the plate i had was already cut for 3 gauges fuel tach and speedo so i put the other 3 in the center console didn't really like it . so over the weekend i decided to make a new one this time not out of thin metal this time out of Plexiglass. here is the results I also now have it covered in vinyl.

Re: made a gauge plate work out good

Looks really good. How thick is the plexiglass? Does it vibrate?

Re: made a gauge plate work out good

about an 1/8 in thick it's getting screwwed down with all teh stock screws 4 on top and 2 on the bottom. total of 6 I don't think it will vibrate. but won't know until i get all that wireing done neatly I'm making the harness so that all teh wires exit the back of the gauge plate in one spot and at that point i will be on the hunt for a plug to put on there so that anytime i want to remove it I just unplug the gauges instead of unplugging all wires and then trying to figure it out the next time .

Re: made a gauge plate work out good

i have one night (few Hrs) into making the plate itself then one night about 3 hrs trying to keep the wires neat that is the hardest part. 5 wire connections for 12v ign 5 ground wires 5 signal wires and 13 ground and power wires for the lights so what i did is tied each into the other for the lights that wasn't easy plus keep it neat at teh same time I still have 2 12v ignition source wires to do cause i ran out of connectors then the plug it needs to have something like 9 wire plug

Re: made a gauge plate work out good

I built that same deal for my car last winter, funny how easy it is to trace the stock dash cover and add gauges. Simpe easy weight reduction with better gauges.
