Are you going to be welding in OE style floor pans, of making your own? I had the joy <as well as many others> of running into floor pan issues.

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
I got lucky enough to get a whole pan from third gen ranch, so I'm using that, also fixing the front end damage I found from a previous owner, it'll be fun when it's done! I'll get more pics up this weekend,

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
nice, how did you measure up the front end, like to cut, etc? im trying to learn how to do "restoration" cuts. On another hand, i should not be let near a sawz-all and a welder.

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
use the body lines, the frame has stock drilled holes and bends. just look at them and measure 102039302949430230349 times cut once. also take little metal at a time its easier to cut a million times then replace metal you dont have. !

yep safety first. nah the tanks attached to the heater so it wont explode because its already ad open flame. gotta heat the garage in this damn weather!

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
I wish i had the time to do floor pans on my blue car but was strapped for time. This was part of the un-expected joys i ran into when i got my blue iroc.
what a **** show that was rebuilding the foot rest at the top left. And it was all shot together with flux wire. Oh yeah and all the rust intrusion was cuz of that high beam switch at the right near the trans tunnel.
last one was the after, new seam sealer on everything, primed it and dropped some insulation down.

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
Pretty sweet outcome. I'm (unfortunately) going ***** out with this theres nothing at all in it. But once I'm done it lives 100% of its life with me onthe garage so it'll be safe. I know prolly should just be getting a new shell, but it's the classic sob story, bought at 16 drive it to prom and graduation... It goes on so nonetheless it getting fixed -_-

Re: 87 iroc new floorpan and restoration
I hear that dude. Same story with my black iroc. I think alot of owners ran/or will run into the same boat your in right now. Had it since i was 16. Bla bla bla. Did the typical **** of making it too fast, now all i want is to have it back to stock, no problems, NO HEADACHES, enjoy it for what it was when i first got it. But of course after letting it sit to long, the por 15 backfired when my t tops sprang a leak, now the floor boards on that car are fubar, and i dont wanna put sheet metal back there. I was thinking when i gather enough enough courage. Im gonna be following this thread like a hawk.
