Fuel tank access door?

When I first got my gta I replaced the whole fuel system such as filter injectors pump etc. when I changed the pump a friend of mine helped me and we cut a square above the tank in the hump in the car. I never ended up getting to put the original pieces back so I got a stop sign and cut it to size the used 3m tape to put it over the cutout, I did not want it welded incase I had to get back to the fuel pump. Anyways the tape doesn't really cut it to seal the cutout, should I be worried 1. about the structural integrity of the car and 2. gas fumes or anything like that getting into the car?

Yes!...all the above, a friend of mine added some hinges and a layer of rubber to lock out the toxic fumes and tac welded a squared frame to support the body form possible twisting and even added Spohn body support which keeps the body from twist with high torque!...this is something I plan to do myself!

okay thank you I was pretty worried I don't want to have anyone in my car get harmed and I don't want the car itself to get harmed so that's why I was curious about the structure lol
