1983 Pontiac Trans Am T-Tops w/ Knight Rider Light - $1500 obo
1983 Pontiac Trans Am T-Tops w/ Knight Rider Light - $1200 obo
Hi Everyone, here is the story behind this car. It is an automatic 1983 trans am with a 305 crossfire inj. v8 engine and T-Tops. I bought this car in wisconsin about 2 months ago with hopes of restoring it to its original glory, thinking I had the entire summer to work on it. I have since taken a contract job that will eat up most of the next 6 months. I would rather not have this car sitting around for that long, so i am reselling. Car runs and drives. I drove it from wisconsin to LA without incident. I paid 2500 for the car and have since put 1500 into repairs. The repairs included a tune up and whatever was necessary to get it to pass smog inspection in California. Looks like they replaced a lot of hoses and stuff. I have a reciept from the mechanic listing everything done to the car. In the past two months the engine has started smoking when shutoff and at idle. Also the engine has been leaking oil and bogs a little bit when given a lot of gas. I had another trans am owner look at it and tell me that this is common for these cars and that the valve cover gaskets need to be replaced. I am not a mechanic myself so I cant confirm this. Body is in pretty good shape. There is a rust spot on the back passenger side above the wheel that can be seen in the pics. Looks like someone spray painted over it. Interior is in fairly good condition except for the driver seat which has tears in the seat and has a cover on it now. Also I think the head liner should be replaced. Trunk hatch shocks need to be replaced. The dealer told me they got the brakes up to 75%, whatever that means. They seem good but they pull the car to the left slightly when applied. Center console is missing cover Also the fuel guage always reads full. Car could probably use new shocks and struts. Has a working knight rider light!! Thats about all i can think of. Feel free to email questions and anyone in the area is welcome to see the car. Good Project Car.

Ill post pics soon
Your are in perfect position to do a Knight Rider converision on the exterior, and maybe a 383 stroker under the hood, and put good seats (Corebeu, or others,) and some 5-point harnesses inside. With a 383 stroker that thing will MOVE. Just a suggestion though. That's what I did with mine, and I loved it, except I used a small block 400 from a 78 Trans Am. It was a little too much power for a unibody car...
