1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
1986 PONTIAC TRANS-AM
59k original miles, currently PA Classic Title, all original, no aftermarket add-ons, original exhaust (hole in one tailpipe), 305 CI with tune port injection, 4 speed automatic, 4 wheel disk brakes, fully loaded, T- tops with storage cover, fairly new tires, garage kept w/cover, current PA inspection, never used as daily driver, 50 year old woman owned. This car was and still only used on nice weather days, car shows and cruise nights. $6,500 firm, call after 5pm at 215-631-9283, Linda. She likes to get the use of her garage back!
This 86 TA is one of the cleanest I seen around. Please send me a PM id you like to see additional photos. She like to see the car go to right person.

She is not going to give it away. What can you find in your area that is not abused, dented, rusted or not falling apart due to the roads in your neck of the woods. What is the percentage of these cars that remain stock. I have been around for a while and seen many of thse cars abused, rusted, and modified! How many are owned by 50 year old woman these day? She is willing to make a deal but not accepting a low ball number.

IMiss MY86TA
Thanks for the advice but as per my last posting that the price is negotiable. I believe it is priced within the NADA Guideline: Average Retail $6,500 to High Retail $8,600. I do understand the current economic times but I believe that this 86 TA is fairly priced. This car was not abused, rusted or, beaten up its whole life as most are. Most of the TA's advertised are not in good shape and the prices also indicates that.

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original
I have a copy of old cars price guide in front of me I bought at barnes and noble, it has overall market values, not dealer sale price values that take into account warranties being provided like NADA (the national automobile dealers association)
#2 condition, which is about where a really clean but driven original car like that might fall comes up $4960...
If she comes down into that ballpark send me a pm, I'm in the market for another 3rd gen...

Thanks for inquire on the 86 TA. If your willing to deal, as I am, please PM me you phone number. As I stated before that it would be tuff to find a 86 TA in the condition this one is in. This TA will not need any work as most for sale will need.

I think you're about $2,000 high. Maybe just $1,500. That's why nobody wants it. Nice car.

Thanks for the compliment! It is a great car and only a few around left that can say it still all original. This car still has the original exhaust and sparkplugs wires! The price was set between average and high but I am willing to take best offer but not giving it away.

That car is mint, I have the exact same model, not near that condition. I think 7G is a steal, your not going to find much out there in original condition that nice, its impossible to match. Engines gorgeous !!!

People been telling me this all the time about how clean the car is and there is not many left in this condition. I had a guy check the car out the other day and noted he can't believe how smooth the engine runs. Thanks for the kind words but I can't believe that I haven't gotten anyone on this forum interested in this car. I also belong to two other forum LS1GTO and V8Buick and if I put my cars on those forums they would be gone in a day!

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
I don't see the need to argue over the price with the guy, he can try to get however much he wants for it.
That being said, I would not factor in anything taken from the NADA guide. Any reasonable 3rd Gen owner knows full well that these cars are not subject to any kind of wide-ranging value or rating system. They sell for whatever somebody is willing to pay for them. There are no such things as steals or bargains when dealing with a 3rd Gen.
Being an owner myself, also living in PA and knowing full well how ridiculous this part of the country treats old cars, I hope he sells it for the asking price. Well bought and well sold.

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
Thanks for you opinion but I thought that a car like this would of sold on a site that is dedicated to these cars. FYI - I have recieved many offers on the car but most of those offers want to pay almost nothing for this car! This is the reason why there is no value to these cars. If it was GN or T-Type in the same condition and year the value would be the same as the original sticker price and then some!

Nice car! I don't think it's overpriced. You might have to try to market it to a wider audience to find the right buyer though. When I was looking, had I seen an IROC in that shape I would have jumped at it without a second thought.

you can't even begin to compare a GTA to a Grand National. that's just crazy.
put the car on ebay with a $6500 reserve. people will bid what they think it's worth and hopefully you'll sell it. if it doesn't sell at least you'll see what your ballpark asking price needs be.

spend 45.00 and advertise on carsonline.com
I have sold several cars, including my 91 GTA for premium price. I think most (not all) members here are under 25 with min funds.
good luck with the sale....

also, while this is a site dedicated to these cars, 99% of members here already have one and dont really need another unless the price is too good to pass up. see where im going with that?
good luck with the sale

Hey, I've been looking for an IROC but will consider a TA. Just to see where I need to be, have you had any offers over 5K? Also, are the rims in decent shape or are they starting to pit?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Had offers of $6000 but it she need a little more. The car is that clean! The rim are in great shape. It has been garaged most of its life and never been in the rain.

Ummm.. I am 42 and have saved up the funds. I want a black 89 5.7 with t-tops. I will only go for under 50K in miles and I plan to spend under 10K for the right car. so no, we are not all under 25 with min funds. I had an 86 but I want the 5.7 ltr with T-tops and Black and 89 was the only year for that and hence will be a collectable when I have passed on or wearing "Depends"

If so what does she say about the car and the price? She is stuck on the $6.5K? Has anyone offered her less? And has anyone seen the car in person?

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
I think that 1986 is the only year that the rear spolier was black regardless of the color of the car. 1987 and up they were color coded.
The 1986 spoliers usally look "flat" black to me but this one looks like its "glossy". Maybe it was replaced and repainted? They usally do crack and need to be replaced because people are lazy and lift the trunk up by the spolier.

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
Yes she is stuck with $6500 firm price. I collect muscle cars and this one is extremely clean and 100% original. You can't find one that hasn't been beat to crap or with all the original parts. This one is that nice! FYI I believe that she had owned it for 4-5 years and only used it for car shows. It's never been in the rain since she owned it, always garaged and cover. It even still has the orignal exhaust system and spark plug wires.

Re: 1986 Trans Am 100% original - $6,500 firm!
True, cheap punks on here. I have a 92 Formula 350 with 40k miles now, with the Ronals and get stupid offers. But again, I am told these cars have no value. Funny how when I am out and especially when it is just cleaned and waxed, I get people in the street asking about her and how good it looks. I am only selling because I have 2 minor children and cant drive them in it with the car seats, too small for me and my needs.
Hold on to it, dont get rid of it for less, it truly is a beautiful looking car! Andrew
