i wonder if you get 15-20 if they will lower the price even more.

price....

the more we get the less it will probably cost us.......that would be sweet if we could get 40 people together on it and get them for more than 1/2 off. Ryan at UMI is away today so ill email him tommorrow about it. Please post this type of quetion on the other thread.

yes we worry about the transaction once weve rounded up enough people.

Thanks

I am definatly in. these look strong and I love to wip it around the corner and I have t-tops.

I have two questions
1- do we have to cut the exsisting rear control arm mounts.
2- I have edelbrok tes headers what will I have to do to make it work. I want to have as much info for the guy who is going to do the welding

i have hooker shorty headers, 2 1/2" y-pipe, i guess the little piece is to go from your subframe to the subframe connectors so that the exhaust is nice and snug

im also wondering what we do about the rear control arms

ansewers

no they do not replace the contol arm mounts they go over top of them then you weld them...Ryan says you must take the bolt out of the control arm bracket weld them over top and the holes in the sfcs should match the holes on the brackets....just reinstall the bolt..make sure to have bolt through both stock bracket and sfc bracket before welding (Theres holes in the sfc brackets for the control arm bolts)

get control arm bolt out put subframe bracket over stock bracket put in bolt....make sure rest of rail meets the subframe where it should. (ryan says it will be obvious once you have the bolt through the brackets) and weld the SFCs onto the subframes including welding the SFC brackets to the stock control arm brackets

yes you will use the extra piece and yes it will fit...once the two rails are welded in slide the extra piece under the y pipe to a place that meets the subframe rail and the subframe, place it so exhaust does not have a chance of hiting it, and weld..

no mounting instructions online...is real friken easy though.

hope this helps

Just wondering is the GP availiable to Canadian's?

I have a small mig welder (OLD MILLER Cricket welder) with .35 flux core wire, would that be enough to weld these in (I am not that great of a welder) I think the welder is rated at 20% duty cycle and 70 amps?

I have only considered Spohn but I know that I would have trouble welding to the thin floor/body under the carpet and I could probably get hotchkis but I am not sure of the quality.

I am very interested in the UMI due to the easier install?? I currently have the stock exhaust but I want to run the hooker 2055's with the hooker "Y" pipe and an aftermarket cat or the SLP's (which one I don't know (carsound? Hedman? I need to do some research)

Here is another dumb question (I hope not though) shouldn't the cars be checked for straightness before installing the connectors?? My IROC looks like it has been put on a frame straighting rack (yes I know it's unibody)

It's a t-top car and I replaced the gearing from 2.77 to 3.73 and I think the car is flexing quite a bit more.

The car also seems to have small creeces at the top of the quarter panel at the top of the hatch at the back of the t-top
(CLEAR AS MUD???)

exhaust questions ansewered

received this email from umi about your exhausts

"I suggest they use our installation pictures from the site to determine clearance issues with certain exhaust set-ups. I am assuming with there longtube headers and true duals they are running straight down the center of the vehicle in the tunnel. If this is the case, there will no clearance issues and the SFC's will fit excellent. "

Hope that helps!
Ryan"

will have email back today about cost if we get 20 people in....will post when i recieve it...if we got 11 already and have a month to go im sure we can get 20.

To: 92krvZ28-----depending on price your in? Price is already way less than if not doing a GP. If it is less for 20 right on even more savings...bonus. Are you in or what?

To: Grizlee: Should unibody be checked for straightness.....probably not...mines got Ts too...u preload the suspension (see install instructions on other post) and weld them in....even an ametuer can weld them in ive been told as its vertually impossible to screw up. (undue control arm bolt in bracket , mount control arm bracket on sfc over stock control arm bracket then reinsert bolt, then weld at all welding points...also on other post...read carefully)
all weld points will meet up with the subframe at exactly the right location after you have the sfc bracket secured over the stock control arm bracket.

These are available to us canadians. There is a few on these posts already. I am one of them. I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

yes are getting a great deal, nicest subframe connectors i have seen and are at only 169.99$ so i jumped at the chance, my T/A has t-tops also and i need to beef up the frame due to the new motor. if we get 15-20+ people and he drops it even more, that would be awesome.

Me Too

I also jumped at the chance. The nicest, beefest, cheapest with this GP ones and also the easiest to not scew up when installing; almost fool proof.

Whos gonna be #12?

Price if we get 20 people in on this GP

Wrote this email to Ryan at UMI:

"Ryan,

I already have 11 people so far in on the GP. I have posted the closing date for this GP as Jan 31/06. Is that ok with you?

In regards to this statement from you

"Here are the prices, we can do either 5 people or 10 people.

5-9 People- $184.99 a set

10+ People- $169.99 a set"

If we get 20 people or more by the end of January is there any chance that we would receive further discount? If there is i am sure I can manage to round up even more people. If there is a chance of further discount at 20+
people what would the price be?

Thanks for the speedy reply"

This is the reply to ryans email I received today:

"The best price and the lowest I can go on these for 20 people would be $159.99 a set, I know 20 people is quite a bit but I just can't go any less. I hope you understand.

If you can get 20 people that is great. One thing to note and I mean this in no harsh way and I am just giving you advise. I have ran a lot of GP's in the past and one thing I have learned is approx. only half the people who sign up actually go through with it. Like I said I don't mean that harsh, just learned that from my past experience and I could be wrong. But you better to have a few extras just in case.

January 31st is fine. Once the number of people is meet each one would have to contact me either phone, e-mail or using our shopping cart with payment. What we would do is get each member to pay for their own set plus their shipping and we ship it to them. What I do on a GP is gather every persons info as they order and hold it, we will not charge anyones card until I have received 10 or 20 orders which ever you choose it to be. We will also not ship until all payments are received, this way we assure it goes through.

If you have anymore questions please ask. Thanks again!

Ryan"

Does this sound good?

We got 11 whos gonna be 12? We have just over a month untill the order.

Please comment.

Hey Irocstang

Thanks for the reply, I have welded a bit with my old mig welder so I think I will try welding in the sfc connectors myself

(If I have to farm out all the work on my car I might as well have bought a new car)

I am assuming you have ordered from the U.S.A. quite a bit more than I have so just to break it down it's $169.99 for the SFC plus $91.00 for shipping plus brokerage??

I am also from British Columbia (Kitimat)

Do I ask UMI for a shipping quote? Do we call UMI with VISA or MASTERCARD (PAYPAL)?

I need to get a firm price with everything included so I can set aside the $$$ SFC + SHIPPING + APPROX BROKERAGE.

Either way I am going to need/want SFC not that I am pushing huge amounts of power but I need a solid foundation for future upgrades.

I am aiming for 300+ HP because I want I car that is not too radical and that I can take the wife and kids out in for an evening of fun.

Irocstang once I get a firm landed price to the door then I will commit (come hell or high water) I just have to OK it with the BOSS A.K.A "My Wife"

Irocstang I don't know if it's been said yet but thanks for all the hard work and running around!

there was a comment made earlier that has bothered me and I wiss to address it.

If you just want to be part of the party but do not want to buy a cup, stay at home.

basically, I am serious about getting these sfc and I hope that all of you are as equally serious.

I am not pointing any fingers or questioning anyones intent. What I am trying to say is if you are interested but not 100% sure than you have untill the end of jan to figure it out.

This is not a wish list.

Now that I am done Bah-humbuggin. Everyone have a happy holiday.

questions ansewerd

email Ryan at

support@umiperformance.com

and tell him that you are interested in the group purchase being organized through Robert.

-Send Your Address Including postal code to him in this email. Ask how much shipping will be to your location. Mine (vancouver island, BC) is 91.30 (american)

People ordering outside the state of PA in the USA do not have to pay sales tax.

All of us canadians have to pay UPS brokrage fees for crossing the boarder (customs..import tax ect). A bonus though to this is ordering through ups your sfcs are fully insured. If they are lost in transit or something you dont have to worry. Umi will send you new ones for no additional price (UPS embersses umi and umi sends new ones). I have ordered online lots and the best way for us canadians is UPS. I am not sure about what the brokarage fee will be ill look into it though and get back to you.

Also ask ryan at UMI for a total price from both the following:

-if there is 10-15 people in the GP (169.99 per set) what will the total cost be, not including UPS brokrage?

-if there is 20 people or more in the GP (159.99) what will the total cost be, not including UPS brokrage?

note: ryan will work out the cost of shipping via your address and postal code and add it to each of the above. Hell then send u a reply with the total cost, not including UPS brokrage. (his reply will be in american funds..you then have to calculate the total into canadian funds..not including ups brokrage) This is a good link to translate funds through:

http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html

I've also included how much it will cost me for each of the ifs mentioned above.

If 10 people: 261.29 american(shipping included). 303.96 Canadian + UPS Brokrage.
If 20 people: 251.29 american(shipping included). 292.93 Canadian + UPS Brokrage.

I cannot see them costing me more than 100 bucks for brokrage.

Hope this helps and ill get back to you on the brokrage costs to canada soon. Any comments?

yeah it was a good idea doing this.

i also live in canda, if we get 20 people it will be 159.99$ + 91.00$ for shipping, NOW, depends who they ship through will depend how much they charge for duty taxes.

UPS = 2 * USPS

as the price is not that high 159$, taxes will be on that price.

i just bought eibach sportlines from the USA last week, they will be here tomorrow morning i called UPS, which is quite expensive but they only go through UPS, because its covered and you can track it, the duty charges were 99.22CAD, and the box weighed 42lbs, and value was 194.00US, it would have been less with USPS, and will be less either way sicne the value is less, and i think they will weigh less then 42lbs.

UPS

All orders from UMI coming into canada are shipped through UPS not USPS or anything else. People ordering in the states have more options. (Americans ordering....read the other post all the shipping options for you are there).

Good thing to mention for canadians too......at least in my part of canada I can get sfc's yes but not very good ones and they want like 500 bucks plus taxes. Im going with these. I refuse to pay a rediculous price for crap comp engineering ones.

We now have 12 in (read previous list of whos in and add Brdofpry85Ta in. I will later too but i gotta go out for a bit)
Feel free to ask more questions if needed.

I personally cant wait to get my hands of these.

Hope this has been insightfull

IROCSTANG

*No taxes if ordering out of state (PA)

re thanks for setting this up....I want these things as bad as the next guy. your welcome

email from UMI

eceived this email from ryan at UMI

Re: Shipping prices

"Just a few side notes that may help. If anyone wants a shipping quote they are welcome to e-mail me or call at any time and I will respond instantly with a price. Shipping in the 48 States will run any where from $25-$45 and Canada is any where from $55-$100 depending on location. This item has to ship UPS due to the size, they are to large and US Postal Service will not except them.

Hope that helps!
Ryan"
