We explained that is a very poor method to conduct business and these customers orders deserve attention and priority just like any other business they have at the shop. We explained that people are talking about boycotting AS&M and the extremely poor reputation that has resulted. Ben doesn't deny any of this and feels badly.

Quality and a special offer
Ben definitely has the skills to complete the runners so there will be no loss in quality.
For those people that were part of this GP, we are offering an additional 5 % discount on our Mufflex group purchase which is currently running. We rarely see Mufflex GP's so this is a good time if you are interested. If you need more details, please email us at sales@fasttoys.net or call us at 204-955-4896.

Back on April 1, 2006 I sent AS&M the following e-mail.
There are folks on the 3rd generation camaro sites
that claim that you manufacture these same runners
for TPIS.
Is this true????
AS&M claims a 25 hp gain over stock
while TPIS claims only 10 hp over stock
If they are the same how can there be that much difference?
This was the response I recieved from Ben Benavides.
I believe is the same Ben who is going to build the remaining
11 orders for LTR.
They are the same runners. The only thing I can say about the claims is different engines and different testing conditions. It's been quite awhile since we originally tested those runners. I can say though that in all the shootouts over the years for TPI runners, ours continue to come out on top making the most hp and torque.

Still a little confused...
"they are the same runners", yes both made of mandrel bent aluminum tubing welded to CNC'd flange... doesn't really equal "we make them for TPIS"...
Regardless they are both (if not 1 in the same) the best flowing tube runners... I'm selling my Accel's on Ebay - I found claims for 15 hp for the Accel, so either they overhyped or TPIS underhyped...
I see FastToys sells them for $413.99 (and he graciously has answered all my emails), but Ben from AS&M has not returned any of my calls or emails in the last 2 weeks... So even if I paid full price for them, not sure how long that would be... I know TPIS has them in stock.

$475 from TPIS web site + shipping. (but instock)
$435 from AS&M web site + shipping. (but gotta wait)
$413.99 from Fast Toys web site.+ shipping. (still waiting)
I hoping Ben is too busy making the ones we ordered
for $350 + shipping to answer his phone/e-mail.

I'd post the rest but it seems....well, like the pics don't do the product justice.
In any case, my sincerest to Fast Toys for the GP and all the followups, and to AS&M for the excellent product and packaging (the box looked flawless when it arrived, so they can share this with FedEx). Sure, they (AS&M) took forever, but in retrospect I think we swamped them.
For those who canceled, I certainly understand. For those who wait this out, it'll be worth it.

Sorry guys,,,my patience has run its course. I'm out. It is a shame that this purchase has taken soooo long. But I did purchase other product in place of these runners though, so Fast Toys is happy too.

You placed an order and asked about the GP, but did you get a response from FastToy's as to whether you can get the GP price?? If not, you may be charged full price for those runners. What did FastToy's say to you?

Just got a response. They said due to delivery problems from AS&M they can no longer accept any more orders but I can be put on a waiting list if any one on the GP backs out. AS&M need to get their SHI? together.

Looks like the last set shipped out on the 19th. Did anyone get one this week? They said they were shipping 1 a week didn't they?

Yep, this pretty much describes us.
I asked in my one of my previous posts
whether or not we could really believe that Ben
could produce 1 set a week and really deliver
1 set a week.
AS&M has no clue how to keep a promised delivery schedule.
This time next year we will probably be told it will be just one
more month till the last set of runners is finished & six months from that
point the last guy will receive his runners.
What a bunch of bullshit.

Well there is a good chance now that i might go with edelbrock I dont know if a small amount more of flow and factory looks is worth a endless wait from a company that doesnt care about the people who need their product. I want my car complete and on the road by april and i doubt AS&M will do that for me. I know how important it is to get product out for the consumer as soon as possible from my career and AS&M does not care, the only reason they can stay in business is that no big company knows there is a big market for TPI. HOW SAD!! We need a TPI company that can deliver but will that ever happen.

WOW its been since Nov. when I dropped out and here it is March now and still a buch of orders to fill. If I were you all I would just get my money back. Maybe it will teach AS&M a lesson in good business. I give all you guys credit for sticking around but thios company will not getting any better the longer you all wait. I know they had us all by the ***** but this is just flat out foolish. I know they make the best runners money can buy but I would sacrifice that for a company that could get me the runners when they said they could. G/L if you all stay w/ it. But you all hanging w/ it is nothing showing this company anything your stupidty. Pleas dont take that the wrong way, i respect all of you guys for the help Ive gotten from this site so if I offended anyone Im sorry. This is plain bullshit no other way to say it.

After so much trouble trying to jump in on this group purchase, I may be bowing out.
Has anybody heard anything whatsoever on these runners? Seems the last set went out quite some time ago.

Last shipping notice from Fast Toys was for a set
sent on 2/19/07which ended up going to KenV.
So much for 1 set being made & shipped every week.
By my count we are half way into the 2nd week after
this last set was shipped.
I knew that Ben @ AS&M would not follow through.
Couldn't they just give an honest effort to
fill this order asap with no more excuses.
It's a wonder that AS&M contiues to stay in business.

At the current rate, they've averaged 1.5 sets per month. That works out to 15 months assuming the original 22 person order.
Just think you're 40% of the way there (wait time)

Well, unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that AS&M simply doesn't care about losing our business. Or, to put it more accurately, they don't care about losing the business from TPI customers.
The truth of the matter is, the money AS&M makes from selling TPI parts amounts to a very tiny percentage of their over-all sales. (I'm thinking 1-2% at best)
So financially speaking, they don't make enough profit selling TPI parts to give a hoot about this G.P. It wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't sold a single set of runners for years prior to our little G.P.
The way they see it, we simply don't matter.
BUT
Just as I explained to them the last time I spoke with them, even though they may no longer be making very much profit selling TPI parts anymore, they're kidding themselves if they think that ignoring us like this won't effect them and their business in the long run.
They may not make much money off TPI anymore, but this G.P. thread has been viewed damn near 9000 times. That's a lot of eye's that have watched and read what's been going on and I can assure you, that the impression AS&M has left on the thousands of people who've been paying attention to this thread, has not been a good one.
Word travels fast. There's no doubt in my mind, that the actions (or lack of) AS&M has been taking will cost them business in the long run. Not just from TPI owners, but from potential customers in the future as well.
Think about it. If you stumbled upon a GP thread and watched as all of those involved were getting the shaft from a particular company, emails not being returned, deadlines not being met, promise after promise being broken, would you buy from that company in the future? Hell no!
You may not have been involved in that GP, and you may not even have any personal experience with that company, but after seeing/reading what's been going on with others, you probably wouldn't want to take the chance of having the same thing happen to you. You'd take your business elsewhere and tell all your friends to do the same. Your friends would tell their friends and the word would spread like wild fire.
I told AS&M this and explained to them that they were making themselves look bad. I told them that the longer they took complete this G.P, the more potential customers they'd be losing from all the people who've been keeping up with this thread and seeing whats been going on. It's a complete and total lack of respect on their part.
Apparently, they didn't take what I said too seriously.
If these runners weren't such a nice piece, I'd recommend everyone just cancel their order and go somewhere else, but unfortunately, these runners really are amazing and the price we're getting them at really is a great deal and that makes bailing out now, all the more difficult for those who've waited this long already.
Hang in there guy's.
I'll email FastToy's and see if they know anything...

Well put, and thanks for the effort on this one. I think it's a combination of them not being ready and their desire to make money in the larger LSx market. Sad but true.

Where is Fast Toys? It's been almost 3 weeks since they chimed in on this thread.
I'm preparing to bail. Gotta hear something soon or i'll be joining the others on the refund list.

Runner Update
Hi Everyone,
We spoke with Ben at AS&M last week and he was working on finishing up two sets of runners that were to ship direct to us for customers in Canada. Since two were going to Canada, he wanted to finish and ship them at the same time.
We just phoned AS&M to get an update and apparently Ben is out of the office this week and will not be back until next week. We asked if they could find out what is happening and get back to us but they didn't seem to know as this is Ben's deal.
We really think that this is totally on Bens shoulders now and they have left it up to him to finish out the GP. Unfortunately, since we couldn't speak to him today, we'll have to wait until next week to find out what is happening.
Sorry for yet another delay. We do contact Ben at least a couple times a week to "remind" him and get status updates.
For those considering cancelling, you are welcome to do so but we really highly doubt AS&M will be making these runners after the GP. We are guessing they just don't make much money off them compared to the amount of work it takes to make them.
If you feel like complaining, call and speak to the owner at AS&M. Don't be too rude or we suspect they will just say forget the whole thing and cancel the orders. Please remember that Fast Toys processed the orders and any refunds must be handled through us and not AS&M. Someone called before and indicated that AS&M had charged them for the runners and that is not the case.
Thanks again for your patience.

Just to clarify,
Are you saying that two sets of runners were recently finished and shipped out before this guy Ben took a week off, or was he simply "working on" two sets of runners before he took the week off and we have no idea whether he even finished them.
If he was simply "working on them" then we really have no idea what's going on with them. Those "runners" may very well be sitting on the shelf, still in raw materials, waiting to be put together and welded up. If that's the case, for all we know, that could take another month or two, or three, or four, possibly five or six and maybe even seven or eight more month's.. In other words, we still know nothing
Were these two runners finished before he left or was he just "working on them' before he took off
Sorry.
If I sound a bit miffed, it's because I am. I know it's got nothing to do with FastToy's, (you've done all you can for us and we all appreciate it) but this deal with AS&M has reached the point of being truly unbelievable. I've been watching what's been going on with my own to eye's and I still can't believe it.
Your right about one thing though, these will probably be the last set of TPI runners AS&M ever makes.
I suppose on the bright-side, we're all getting collector's piece's
Maybe that will preserve their resale value of these runners if any of us try and sell them a few years from now. People always want what they can no longer get .....
