I wouldn't get an '86, unless you mind having a slow car, LG4, worse off tranny, starting late '87 I believe the 700R4 tranny got better internals.

Well, he said Z28 and there were no TPI Z28's, IROCs are a little different.
Mark A Shields,
There was lots of TPI Z28's in 85 and 86

Come on over and visit the Cascade Crew forum, we have lots of members from BC, and one of them might be able turn you onto a car. '86 should be one of the easiest to find since they made so many of them.

Nothing wrong with my 86 LG4(209,000 miles & counting) or trans, both original. Just depends on who had your car and how they and you keep it up.

Yup, had an 85 z28, 215 hp, tpi 305 automatic.
currently have an 87 Iroc, 190 hp, tpi 305 automatic
Go figure
GM detuned the 305 in 86 to 190 hp, then brought back the 215 hp 305 in 87 but only with a 5 speed.
