What about my 86 trans am a non ws6 w/lg4 motor and auto trans a non t-top car. I have all the papers including window sticker and all service record. Will it someday be worth anything by keeping the miles low and keeping it stock brand new looking??????

i read earlier in the post about starting model years early, so i thought i'd put in my .02 i work at an automotive seating plant. we build seat frames for GM, ford, chrysler, and mercedes. mostly SUVs and trucks. but every july, the first two weeks, the assembly plants shut down to change over to the new model year. so, for instance, we start building seats for 2002 models in july 2001 and run till the next july. but sometimes they change something and want to change over early. i don't know if you guys remember or even care but the new body style ford f 150s were 96 models, even though they started building them january 01 1995, so that model year actually ran for 18 months.

One collectible that people don't think of necessarily are the '91-'92 Z28s....they made 13k or so in '91 and only 5-6k in '92. For sure, these are "rare," at least when you consider how many third gens there are. I mean, how often do you see an IROC, and how often do you see a '91-'92 Z?
Maybe I am biased...I just found a '91 I want
And many of you have said what I ALWAYS thought...they may not be collectible now, but for sure they will be. Thats why I'm giving up my beloved V6 RS to grab a nice one now.

I don't know that I believe this, but I have a bunch of guys telling me they think within three to fives years after f-body production stops, we will see a rise on even the Z28's IROC's, TA's and converts not to mention the rare cars. Their theory is people are going to want the low mileage clean cars on speculation and those who have choice cars and not going to want to part with them. My wife told me that when it comes time to replace our family toy, she wants a Cobra Mustang. Needless to say I do not plan on letting go of mine for a LONG TIME!!!!!

I've wondered about this too. When F-car production stops what will happen to the value of our Z28's, IROC's, T/A's and the like? I'm keeping my '84 Z28 for this reason and will be looking for a nice low mileage IROC soon.

I dunno how some of you could stand having an IROC-Z or any thirdgen for that matter and not mod it, drive it, and keep it as some sort of "future collectors item". To be honest with you the memories of the good times I've had with my IROC are worth a hell of a lot more to me that $30,000 in 30 years. My $0.02.
