Question retrieving car history
A while back (not sure exactly how long ago), there was a thread that mentioned a website where you could purchase all of the information Pontiac had on your car (what it sold, original color, etc). If I remember correctly, the charge was $40.00, and when Pontiac sent them the records, alot of the original paperwork was sent over, and Pontiac has no records left on the cars. If anyone can remember that website, I'll be most grateful. Thanks!

Now my question is are the camaro owners getting the shaft. I haven't found anything like that for us. Only the birds got them. Adam :-)

a couple of years ago (on this board) someone posted a GM web page you could contact with your VIN number and requesting info on your camaro. I sent my stuff in and got a reply in the mail that was a photo copy of what I thought was the original window sticker (wouldn't you know it, I just spent a few minutes looking for the envelope and can't find it). Anyway, for the 83Z the paperwork listed all the options the car came with, the price of the options, the cost of the car and the dealership the car was shipped to from the factory. My 83Z was originally sold in Tennessee. I got no similar info on my black 86 IROC because it was a "corporate" car sold in North Carolina and GM didn't keep info on "corporate" cars. I didn't get any info on my red 86 IROC either because it was originally sold in Canada and GM didn't keep info on cars sold outside the US. At least that's what the letter said. I'll try to find the letters tomorrow for more info but I know the GM website was posted on board at one time.

Sorry, found the paperwork. The site was gmma.research@gm.com but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Camaro owners do not get the shaft, they get a PHS packet (sort of) for FREE. you lucky jerks... us pontiac guys get more cool stuff though...
anyway, to get your free restoration packet, call GM vintage dept. 905-440-7689.
poncho guys can try this too, however, most of the original pontiac division records are missing due to (get this) many of them being sent to PHS instead of the copys they were suposed to have recieved. PHS requested copys of all of Pontiac divisions sales records and such, and GM sent them the originals. you may get lucky however, they have about 30% (estiamte by an expert) of the records left of the 80s cars.
back when jennifer knightstep (i think that was her name) was still doing vin/invoice lookups for free she sent that too me in an email, along with a photocopy of the original sales invoice for my 1986 pontiac firebird, which she had PHS fax her a copy of. unfortunatly for the thirdgeneration community she no longer handles that research. i can only assume due to her diligence to her job she was promoted, but i also know she made a bit of a fuss fighting for our right to records (for no charge no less) so i fear the worst. she actualy made an account here a few years ago and posted some usefull info about it. lemme see if i can dig it up..
ahhhh.. found it. her username is/was "JennKstep" and the original thread can be found HERE

EDIT* wow, reading that all over again was a trip down memory lane... amazing to see how many people posted in that thread that are still on the boards today....
