Just about a year ago, my son and I were talking about him buying his first car, when I had seen that Stiers had been having some slow responces to his selling of his GTA.
Well, long story short, my kid bought it, and I have just recently finished repainting under the hood, (remember all that terrible blue, everywhere?) the front fenders, and bumper cover.
We also bought two more front GTA wheels, and stripped, polished, and repainted them, so he can rotate tires now without dismounting tires.
We also installed some replacement GTA seats, because the originals were shot.
The driving lights were changed out for new ones, the air intake was changed to an 1988 model, the air dam was replaced, deleted the smog pump and all of its hoses and we also found the cause of the coolant leak,(cracked thermostat housing) and replaced that.
Enjoy,
Leon.

Did you paint that yourself????? It looks awsome!!! That gives me inspiration to get my GTA painted, I hit a deer earlier this year and replaced my fender and headlight assembly and it just needs paint.

Yes I did, all in my own garage, too!
Thanks!
You need your GTA painted too?
Maybe we should talk!
My work looks just as good in person, as it does in the pictures.
I just hate having to pay to have this sort of work done by someone else, so I do it all myself, and then I know how good it was done.
Here is a series of pictures, taken of roughly the same area, to see the progress.
Wow, looks really good man! But why did You take the SLP cold air kit out and swap a stock one in?
Thanks!
But that was the stock and restrictive intake set-up used on the TPI cars from 1985-1987.
This one was cheap enough and it looks alot better than the old one.
This intake was also one of the reasons for the HP increase for 1988 TPI cars.
We're happy with it, though!
I will keep you in mind, altough I am planning on painting the whole car because the spoiler is all cracked, and it also has alot of imperfections all through out the car, so I will get a hold of you when I am ready
Great looking car! But where did you find replacement seats? Mine are looking pretty rough (The plastic accordian thing on the side has split open), and I've been looking everywhere.
It's really good to see a well done GTA, it gives me a little boost every time i see one. I'm going out to the garage now to start working on mine again.
(And woo-hoo IA! I'm originally from Clear Lake, up near Mason City. It's such a small world. As soon as I get out of the Navy I'm moving right back.)

First off, Thanks for the comments
And you won't beleive it, but I bought the seats right here out of our classified section, from a member from Cali.
And you'll have to look me up when you get back in state, I'd love to meet ya!
Bring this back up since I finally saw it. Your going to make me cry. I was wondering what happened to my old car.
The car looks great! I wish I would have had the time and the money and materials and space to give it the attention it deserved. You guys did a great job.
You do simply amazing work Leon. If I ever need anything painted I'll send it your way.
Edit: Just so everyone knows, I wasn't the idiot who put on the blue! It was like that when I bought it.

Hey man, thanks a ton, for making my son a happy third gen owner!!
The GTA has spent most of its time in the garage, and is stored during the winter, because he's got a winter beater to use.
It has been a great addition to our family, and I think he has the coolist car out at the high school.
But besides that, my son is a very responcible driver, and has alot of repect for the car, so I'm sure it will be with him for many years to come.
Only thing I did happen to notice, is that it looks like the 2nd pair of front rims you picked up must be the '88-92 style...
The one on the left is correct for '87, and the one on the right is correct for '88-92 (slightly sharper edges on the lip, and an extra "notch" on the mesh just adjacent to the lip)...
Paintwork looks fantastic... best of luck with the car!

Thanks,
Actually, when we bought the car, it already had a mis-matched set of wheels on it.
One side had the correct 87 wheels, and the other side had the 88-92 wheels.
The extra wheels we bought match the 87s, so the car now has 3, 87 front wheels, and 1, 88-92, front wheel.
