Late model Camaro die cast models - where to get?

I am looking for an LT1 era camaro for my friend for christmas but havent had luck finding one. I'd also like a 3rd gen model for myself. The run of the mill 69 camaros are a dime a dozen but it's hard to find anything besides them or the really new ones (2002, etc).

Any ideas on this? I mean the ones that are already assembled by the way - I'm too lazy to put one together.

Well, there really aren't many 3rd gens. A few 82 Z28s, a Knight Rider and some other Firebird based models coming in 07. As for the LT1/LS1 based, they aren't third gen related. Asking for those here will only get the thread locked. Your best bet is eBay.

Ertl made some LT1 1/18 die cast '96 Camaro verts,I remember a blue & red model and the '97 Anniversary convertible model.Only place to get those are on eBay.There's also the '02 Camaros LS1 1/18 made by Road legends I believe.

And To keep it third gen

Sunstar made 1/18 '82 Camaros including a Indy 500 model.

Ertl only made the 1/18 knight rider Kitt and Karr models,A 1982 Trans Am Recaro was suppose to be made but for some strange reason got canceled.
And thankfully greenlight collectibles is coming out with a '89 GTA.

is it an 82? i've never seen a 91-92 metal model.. only the promos. a few irocs though and the dreaded 82-84 berlinetta models are a dime a dozen... who likes those?

i tried to get jada toys to back a new thirdgen model. they were really excited about it but when i went on the various internet boards to get support after 5 months i had only 70 confirmed email address of people that would be willing to shell out 29.99 for a nice scale version. considering that's roughly $2100 dollars we were only short from the remaining $70,000 initial startup they were looking to get the project rolling.

if you can't get the people here who are definately interested in thirdgens to all jump in how on earth can we expect any company to shell out the money for them.

for example i don't care for mustangs but when i find a cool model i will pick one up. what do we have for thirdgens... alot of 82 versions sitting on shelves. no wonder companies won't make us a decent model, who buys those except for the diehards?

Jeff, you started that thread in the Appearance forum. If JADA is still interested, restart that thread in every forum and tell the people to sign up only once. There are plenty of people willing to buy, but I'm sure there are lots that don't visit that board due to the "show me your wheels" type threads. I also know you're active on camaroz28.com. Have you tried to get them to sign? Let me know if you need help with this.
