Looking for some assistance...

My wife and I have been searching high and low for information about her Formula. We've tried getting help from The Formula Source and failed. We know that 1990 was a half model year so not many Firebirds were produced due to Pontiac ramping up for the slight body changes in the 1991 model year. We can find all sort of performance information on the car since it is very similar performance wise to 350 equipped GTAs, but when it comes to narrowing down options for production figures it just isn't there.

Example, I know how many Gunmetal GTAs were produced each year of the run thanks to Frankie from The GTA Source Page. It was one of the rarest color options four of the five years. The fifth year (1992) I believe it wasn't available. Anyway, if Gunmetal is a rare color on the GTAs then it has to be a rare color on the Formulas or any other Firebird for that matter. Also, something else is the fact that her car is a two-tone delete car. From what we've found there weren't many of those either. I have a feeling that her car is going to be rarer than mine is.

We appreciate any help that can be provided. This task would have been made much simpler if PHS hadn't been forced into reorganization by GM. Now, we can't get any information on cars 1987 and later. Damn the man. LOL! Again, thanks for the help in advance.

You have an interesting Formula and I'm partial to that color(I had a 2nd Gen T/A that was a similar color). The person here to speak with IMHO is Okfoz as he's the resident Formula expert. Some dealer Parts Dept's have the ability to look up the RPO list for your car(I don't remember the cutoff year for it).

Re: Looking for some assistance...

Thanks for the info. Is that his screen name on here? We have the RPO sticker in her console and verified the paint codes. I'm just trying to find out how many were made with those options. As for the cutoff...it's 1990 now, I've already tried for my car and was unsuccessful.

Re: Looking for some assistance...

You are most welcome and yes that is his screenname.Unless it was a special model, like a TTA,or someone has a site like Frankie's GTA page then getting option combinations is hard because GM didn't keep detailed records like that. The best you can do is go thru each individual option for number ordered for your year.I'm in a similar boat with my '83 Z28.Though she wouldn't be a desirable to most as your Formula she is somewhat unique for her year.In looking thru the options on her the G92 rear axle has the lowest number ordered for '83(1,009).But how many '83 code 59 beige LU5 loaded(everything but the LS Camaro seats)Z28 could have been built(and of those how many are still in one piece).

Re: Looking for some assistance...

Thanks for the compliments. Finding the Gunmetal Formula was luck, but both my wife and I agreed that it'd be pretty cool to own "similar" cars. By the time they're both done they'll share some similar styling cues. Then there'll be no mistaking that the cars belong to a couple.
