Looks good, How is the paint everywhere else? Id say it was worth it. Mileage is pretty good also for a driver. Have fun with her. Put in a cam and an aftermarket intake if 5000 RPM is no fun... Thats what I did.

The paint is spiderwebbed on the nose right in the center, but otherwise good. A cam and intake are on my list, along with a bunch of other mods but I'm going to try to fix what's broken first. I see in your sig you have a fiberglass spoiler, mind if I ask where you got it? How do you like it? What's the cost on something like that?

Nice find!!! and yes, that "plastic coupling" is your MAF. Have fun with it, that is the first factory CD player I've ever seen in a 3rd gen.

Nice! That is definitely an orginal CD player, very hard to find now a days. I have never actually seen an 89 with the factory CD player option. The RPO is U1A, check for it in the SPID sheet in the center console.

I was told once that there were only about 110 1989 Firebirds built with factory CD players but I don't know if that's true. I hope it is because I've got two of them. Both of mine came from '89 Formulas.

Re: My new 89 GTA w/factory CD player

You're lucky getting a factory player. Yours is the only other F-body I've seen with one.. As mentioned, check your RPO list for U1A.....

I wanted a factory CD player for my 90 GTA to keep it all stock. I hunted for 8 years looking for one in reasonable shape for a decent price. I managed to pick one up at a local wrecker a few years ago. I think I paid $150 for it.

No, thankfully it's going to be a while until Memorial Day. However, I'll be planning for Thirdgen Fest '09 before you know it.

It looks like you're a good candidate for the "Hampton Vinyl" seat upholstery kit from Hawks.

Re: My new 89 GTA w/factory CD player

To answer one of your questions about the power lumbar on the drivers side, what does it do? If it runs for a split second and then shuts off you probably have a kink in your lines. If the pump runs without adjusting something then you might have a hole in a line or the bag OR something may be simply pulled apart.

How it works is actually BOTH front seats run off the same pump under your drivers seat, when you push a button there is a valve that opens and then it pushes or pulls air into and out of the air bags that are in the seat calling for air. There are some lines that go under the carpet & under the center console. I found that on my car when I installed the seats that I had to make sure the lines were not kinked when the seat backs were in the upright position... Lean the seat forward and see if it works.

as for CD players 2597 Camaros and 1095 Firebird in 1989... I actually have one for my 1989 Formula 350 Vert

Re: My new 89 GTA w/factory CD player

Wow you got a good deal on yout gta. The cd player is rare on 89 f body cars. I bought my gta with 80,000 miles a few months ago and is just like yours except for the cd player. Does your car have dual cat. converters on it. Mine has them and I have owned a blk and tan gta with dual converters on it, I was surprised to find another one when I bought mine.
