Well I am back....maybe
I just put a deposit down on a 92 Z28 Z03 LB9 M5. Car seems to be very solid. The owner said it has been a summer only car its whole life. I am having the car shipped. What do you think? Am I crazy for buying it without actually seening it? He said the car has no rust. I got some pics of the bottom of the car and it does look really clean. Car still has original paint except for the nose and chin spoiler. I am giving 4800.00 for it. This was the Ebay listing

Are the wheels painted with chrome spray paint? Everything else looks great, pretty decent price too, I think.

The red wheels allways fade out and look pink, so I bet someone did spray paint them. The rest of the car looks great. I think its worth every bit of $ 4,800. I got your twin only mine is a 5.7, automatic. Let us know how it turns out.

It looks like a nice car, but yeah it looks like something is up with the wheels. The exhaust in the later years doesn't hang down like that either, it should be tucked up under the back end where you can't see the tailpipes at all.
G92, N10, J65, etc sounds like a winner.

I know,
Now that I look at the wheels I see what you are saying. Thats one of the first things I plan on changing anyway. So, it looks like someone put older style exhaust on it?
I guess to me it seems like it had to have been taken really go care of for it to still have the original paint on it and look as good as it does.

I don't think you'll ever lose money on it. A genuine G92 Z03 stick shift will be a desireable car down the road, for sure. Its too bad it has 129k on it, but otherwise it looks like a great deal.
Congrats!

You couldn't tell by the look of it that it has that many miles on it. Thats a really high price imo but its a damn nice car. I don't have that kind of money to spend but if I did I'd buy something nice instead of $300 junk that I have to work on constantly.

Nice cars cost money...and in the end they're much cheaper than rats. Ask me how I know!

Re: Well I am back....maybe
The auction ended. Knowone bid on the car. After it ended I emailed him to see if it was still available. Originally he said he had to have 5000. I talked him down to 4800. I have to pay for shipping not him.
About 7200 miles a year...

Just be careful is all I can say... I work for a large cargo company and have talked to many people that were expecting to get a car - and got screwed instead...

Are you paying him for the shipping in the payment? Is you payment bonded until the car is released to the shipping company?

I don't have any experience with any particular company - what I do know is that a surety bond is issued from a financial institution that you pay the selling price to. The seller gets the money when they hand over the vehicle and title. At that point the vehicle can be shipped. I would google surety bond to get more details.

Another option is to see if someone from these boards can verify the car and see if they will facilitate the shipping for you. I'd trust a stranger from these boards before a complete stranger!

I'm not trying to make an accusation against anyone - just wanted to give a heads up and advise everyone that they should be careful when making a purchase like this over the internet. And Scott has a great idea~I'm sure no one on the board would mind checking out a vehicle that is for sale - if the seller is legit - he probably has for sale locally as well anyway!

Thats a good idea.....anybody know anyone around Oneonta NY. That could go check it out for me. I can pay some gas money if need be.
I would fly up and drive the car back but my wife is about to have my second child.

I decided not to buy the car, got my deposit back. I would rather go see the car for myself. I just dont have the time to do it right now. Maybe after my son is born.

Re: Well I am back....maybe
The reason why the wheels do not look correct is they are not the original wheels, or they have been painted, or stripped. Originally they were Red (81P) so there is something definitely up there... Otherwise the car looks like a Bargain, for $4800, if its indeed as clean as it appears. I would be interested in looking at the bottom of the doors, and other tell tale places where rust occurs (like around the lip of the rear wheel wells which are typically incorrectly repaired). but from pix it looks gr8

Re: Well I am back....maybe
Yeah, but the last time I posted about the car I bought, my post got deleted. I bought a low mileage 4th gen. 99 Hugger Orange SS 25K miles on it. 6 speed, leather, T top, only 375 made.
I am in the process of installing a Ford 9" rear end in it right now. The 10 bolt just will not hold up behind the LS1 with a stick.
I still love 3rd gens and would love to have a nice one. Maybe one day I can have both.

Since this post originated as a search for a 3rd gen and you found a 4th gen, the original post no longer needs to be open.
