Rear net/blind from rear seat to roof
Tried a search - anyway know what I'm on about - lol
Noticed a net/mesh type blind at the top back of the rear seat on my '90 GTA which hooks to some plastic hooks on the plastic trim at the back of the roof
thoughts welcome>>

It's a cargo shade - attaches to the plastic on the inner bottom of the hatch glass - retracts and such with the opening/closing of the rear hatch. Keeps nosey folks from seeing all the condoms in the back of your car!

Never seen or even heard of one before - must be aftermarket add-on.

Guys, please read what he is describing. It is not the rear cargo shade. Yes, that was factory. He said that this screen/mesh rolls up from behind the seat to the "roof". Not the hatch. Please read before responding. jharrison, I can guarantee that you did not have one in all four of your 3rd gens.

thanks Scott
I'll take some pics (prob. next weekend now with the rain and short days)
It is pretty unusual but can't imagine why anyone would put it on for a car living in europe (car was sold new in germany)
stay tuned...

Re: Rear net/blind from rear seat to roof
Pictures would be very welcome. I've never seen something like this on a 3rd gen.
And guys, it's particularly important in the History/Restoration section that we provide accurate information. Skimming posts and throwing out the first thing that comes to mind isn't what this section is all about. I like to think that I know a lot about thirdgens, but I do a lot more reading and learning in this section than posting and teaching.

Scott's right. The cargo shades rolled out HORIZONTALLY, and latched at the rear of the latch, where the pull-down mechanism or hatch latch was.

I have never seen a factory vertical blind, in a 3rd gen.
Closest I've see to any vertical ones in convertibles in like much newer cars (not F-bodies), but never anything like that in a 3rd gen. Not even an aftermarket piece.

Re: Rear net/blind from rear seat to roof
Hi guys - apologies for the delay
Completely forgot the actual blind was on my original GTA seats which are now tucked away in my loft - got some 4th gen seats in there now.
Anyway I've got some pics of the hooks on the top panel - looking at it closer it certainly does look aftermarket. May just transfer the blind over though as a novelty
thanks for everyones input>>

Re: Rear net/blind from rear seat to roof
It does look like an aftermarket hook piece- seemed like GM modled everything in when they could. I wonder if maybe it's a baby shade- like the suction cup stick on the window jobbies. That's what it sounds/looks like to me at least. I can't count how many times my daughter has been out on a ride in the Z and was bothered by either the sun coming in through the back window, or through the tops. Good idea to a degree- minus the drilling for hooks IMHO. My wife would buy it
