Re: You must be joking
I have a few problems with this listing. #1 cow induction? #2 B&M factory shifter. #3 blue book doesn't have anything pre 1991. #4 $5000?!?!?!? #5 grammatical errors are a turn off.
But yeah I laughed pretty hard at the cow induction!

its a great car, looks clean and very original, the shifter eh the wheel eh, but i love the look of it, whether or not its worth 5k sure, but will he get it out of it robably not, hell mine looked pretty close to that when i bought it for under 3 i'd say it sells for 35-4 locally and goes to a good home.
p.s. mines supposed to look like that lol someday it will

Re: You must be joking
I dont trust those miles 17 years only 20,000 miles,i dont think this guy knows his camaro at all.
It came factory equipped with a B&M tranny and rear end.
this is basically the same car as the 1982 Camaro Pace Car edition, just without all the flash!!!!.
I am selling because I no longer have the interest to display or drive this car.
cow induction
87,000 original miles 2012.
05/30/1995- 65,734
If he does not want to drive or display this car then i dont want it.He should just say he bought another car.

Re: You must be joking
i dont think its all that bad. some of the things he said are kinda far fetched. but its still a decent car period. i wouldnt pay that much for it, BUT i only pay for steals or deals. so thats why im not saying its not priced right. its not like hes asking 15+, because that would be something to make fun of. 5 isnt bad. and that smoke could just be the condensation from warm up btw. there arent jack for a selection of 82's to go buy TODAY, maby back then. or even a 3rdgen that happens to STILL have a crossfire...

This guy obviously knows nothing about this car, therefor I don't take him seriously on price. B&M tranny? Same as the PC? Isn't the only difference between the pace car and the z28 the flash?
A crossfire car would have to be dead mint to fetch five grand. Period. Mine's about 90% restored with 90k and I would ask at most 5500 and mine has posi 4wheel disc stock and ttops.

And if it's an 82, why does it have a bowtie on the rear emblem? If the paint's original, why does it have black ground effects with white paint and red stripes (closest paint job to this wasn't available until 1983, see dealer brochure for 1983)

Re: You must be joking
late 82 production run? maybe not original but perhaps custom painted back in the 80s and showing original looking patina? and the "smoke" simply looks like exhaust on what i can tell is a cold fall day because of the dead grass and bare trees. i thought we were just laughing at the "cow" induction thing, the price and condition seem pretty good to me, better then the 3-4 grand v6 firebirds around here, and that car is loaded, and it is basically the same as a pace car minus
the decals
the custom interior (silver/drk blue seats embroidered with Z28
the value
the lights (ik they were optional and only came on real pace cars)

i wouldn't buy that car off of him just for the fact that he is an idiot and has no idea what he's saying. i bought my mint condition 82 cfi with 20000 miles on it when i was 16 for 5 and a half grand. that was 7 yrs ago. imagine how the market has dropped since then

B&M Tranny? that's a shifter, are you serious? I suppose he's going to say that that steering wheel is an original factory extra cost option. lol Whoever painted it didn't even black out the headlight pockets.
I say 3000 tops for a reasonably clean period incorrect crossfire car.

Exactly. If he doesn't know ANYTHING about this car, which he clearly does not, what makes you think he knows anything about its value? Where did those painted rims come from? Original paint? No.

Re: You must be joking
Why did you decide to post the ad here and bust this guy's *****? Does it make you cool if everyone agreed and laughed along? To me, he comes off as a decent guy trying to sell his Camaro. Maybe he doesn't know everything about Camaro history or even much about mechanical aspects of a car, but that doesn't make him stupid or a jerk. I think it's a nice looking car and it'd be good to see nice 3rd gens sell for more than next to nothing.

It's a forum. You share with like-minded people like-minded thoughts. I'm not "busting his *****" he likely knows nothing of this post and I highly doubt that anyone who knows anything about the car would pay that kind of money for it, thus not hurting his potential to sell the vehicle.
Good luck to him selling his car. But the tone of his post, not to mention his sheer naivety lead me to believe that he is not the type of person I would want to buy a car from, and it causes me to call into question, given how long he's owned the car, of just how legit the car actually is.
But if any of you guys are so enthralled by this vehicle, let's see any one of you drop 5g on it.
Anyone...?

Re: You must be joking
I'm sorry but I disagree. Just like how I take offense when someone calls my car that I have put hundreds of man hours into a piece of junk, it also grinds my gears when people treat their vehicles like they are made of solid gold, especially when they obviously know nothing about their cars. To me, it's a lot like when someone drops a junkyard 350 into their v6 car with stock tranny, no A/C, some rusty old headers and a chrome air cleaner and saying "I estimate this car has 400hp at least!"

if it was local to me,i'd be having a look Even back in
1990 it took me a while to find a hardtop '82 z28 in
decent shape-paid 4500 for mine back then,i'd pay 5k
for this one if it was free of rust or hidden accident
damage.

no i wont drop 5k on it, but like i mentioned before im just cheap. but thats me, not everyone else. its still a nice car either way the cookie crumbles. just not a "factory freak" car, because if it were, 5k would be wayyy to cheap. agreed he may not know a whole lot about it like most of us here do. if you want something to laugh at or see as a joke, i can dig up some crap on craigslist that would be worth poking fun at. (this one doesnt quite humor me)

it looks clean and pretty nice, red interior isn't my thing, but its pretty solid the wheel and shifter can be changed back for not an insane amount of money if its a HUGE deal to you. the wheels, well i cant paint them back silver easy as this guy had em painted white, the ground effects again, from black to silver in a day or two (paint drying), he just doesn't have time for it anymore. his feedback is 100% positive hes not trying to rip anyone off. hes sold alot of car parts and matchbox style collectibles, from that i gather that he knows enough about cars but not specifically thirdgens, there not the most well known car around ya know guys even with a wonderful site like this. also that hes human and not everyone types the greatest im sure i messed something up in this that i just typed, but my keyboard is ****

Re: You must be joking
I guess in my area, we must have a really lousy used car market, considering really minty IROCs (like, waaaay nicer than this car) can't even fetch 7000. My car was in much nicer condition than this one and I paid 3000 for it and I thought that was a little far fetched considering some of the issues it had.
For example:
http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2969151020.html
http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2957315222.html
http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2979630194.html
http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2964447722.html
http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/2914294826.html
These are a few of what I would call decent deals on some clean cars (the yellow one especially!) and they are in a similar price range to his. And this is just in my area. I must be the only one who thinks this guy is all wet, I'm not saying he's a moron, I just think his price is unreasonable and came here to see if I was all jacked up or not.
No offense or hard feelings were intended, nor immature behavior about spelling and grammer etc. Merely voicing my opinion. If you disagree, that's fine.

Re: You must be joking
the yellow iroc is nice, the 84 and a half though im suspicious of there werent 84 irocs iirc also is it the tuned port 30 or a ported fuel injected 5.0 like he says jk i know its an early 85 iroc that was probably bought in late 84 and has the 305, the 83 z imo is ghastly, that paint isnt original in any way except maybe that it was white, and what are those wheels, yuck, does fresh overhaul mean they had someone rebuild it because ihad major issues? regardless that puts me off of it. the 83 late model sounds legit for the most part but he got the car from his uncle and a friend of his uncle hes had it for awhile, it clearly means something to him so he cant be just selling it for garage space, ad i dont buy that the same car "almost" sold for 14k i havent ever seen one go for that much. and the other 84 has been sitting for AWHILE by the looks of it, the tires are kinda rotted and the back one looks like it was sitting flat for awhile before the day the pics were taken, also and i know this is weird but look at the seat bottoms, there deformed like they had boxes of crap or parts sitting on them and the whole lot was in a storage shed

I think that 84 is sexy as hell, true about the tires, but still, it's clean. Was yours that nice when you bought it? For 4k I'd jump on that before a suspicious 82 for 5, just putting a comparison out there. That 83 is definitely an 80s whackjob paint job, I wondered if anyone would get as much of a laugh out of it as I did

truth be told mine was about the same condition as the 82 for 5k but i paid half that and drove 200 miles to get it and then drove it 200 miles back with no plates in a rainstorm lol, i kinda dig the orange stripes at the bottom but not at all with gold accents on the hood and rims, yuck lol

And I think that 83 5 speed is totally worth it with that low miles and perfect interior (besides the crack in the console lid). That's an early l69 car, there weren't many of those

I see that car daily driven, last summer it had regular z28 rims with gold accents that actually looked kinda cool. That;s why I figured they were for studs. The interior could use some help though.

I know what I just wrote seems pointless but let me ask you guys something from the 3 basic groups of 3rd gen owners which one would you rather buy from? I know which group I would want to buy from. To this day I could still show my grandpa a picture of a '57 Chevy or '64 Chevelle and he would say "Boy that would make a nice stock car"
Now that I'm done with all that being said it looks like he has taken really good care of the car. Would it be my first choice? No absolutely not but only because I don't like the 82-84 3rd gens and I don't like CFI as TPI seems to be much more reliable. Maybe he has an important job and doesn't have time to be on this board all the time and if he's not real 3rd gen knowledgeable and was told by a previous owner that it was a special edition and he really believes it then he's not really lying. And if you were to walk down the street and poll 100 people how many of those do you think would be able to tell you this wasn't a factory shifter? My guess would be 1 or 2. Are these people all stupid and jerks too? My point is this guy has taken really good care of this car, at least he had the sense for that. And if I had an extra $5,000 and was into CFI 3rd gens I'd definitely take a look.
I'm sorry I see posts about this all the time where someone posts a car they see on ebay or craigslist and they post it here to laugh at. And if you don't plan on buying it why do you care to post this to begin with? This may sound offensive but it's like seeing the largest woman in church and laughing out loud and pointing her out to everyone if you don't plan on marrying her why do you care?
