Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
I figured the asking price would be $30k, and I was right.
I could see that car pulling mid to upper 20s all day. Problem is, I'd be neurotic to drive it anywhere. But that's an amazing car

The carpet is stained in the front and the rear. Something's not right about that if the mileage is accurate. I think the seats are correct, but stained carpet all around warrants questions.

Weren't the leather seats half leather and half cloth?

Not for 88+ leather seats. At least all the leather ones I've seen are full leather. 87 down was the half leather, half cloth

Never mind, I think '90 and up were all leather...

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
My 1989 convertible came with the half leather seats so that must have been the last year for that style. They look just like the ones chazman pictured but are grey.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
Now that I look closer, this car has probably had the instrument cluster replaced. DonW is right that the headlights are glossy. A car with extremely low miles should still have original satin paint in the headlight buckets. The front end has been repainted here! Also, on the photo with the rim, the center cap looks like the clear is peeling. This car has been kept clean for the most part, but I call BS on the 165 mile claim. This seller is lying about that.
I also just noticed the hood bump stops are black and they should have paint on them. The white lettering is also worn off the coolant overflow bottle cap.
The carpet is stained on the passenger side, but a heater core will will leave a mess on the front floor, not the back. Somebody has been in the passenger back many times. More than 165 miles would show.

Just Noticed, A Sticker Has Also Been Removed From The Door Seems Strange To Do For Such A Supposed 165 Mile Car.

Look how dirty that door latch is and the ground effects edge on the door. My car has 20k miles and doesn't look like that. The weatherstripping and screw recesses look very worn.

Scott, I just referenced your low mile car just to make sure the factory actually does a better job. Check out the gap difference on the body moulding on the front fender/door compared to the gap where the door meets the Qtr. Yours is perfect. This one was put on by a blind guy. Whole car has had a repaint. A damn good one, but a repaint.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
EDIT I take that back. 10k would be tops for me since who knows how many miles are on it and its had at least one repaint.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
For sure!
Honestly, I see the stain on the carpet but I can't really say it's a heater core failure. And the paint looks factory to me. I did make a comment on the seats, but I was mistaken.
YMMV
Looks like a really sweet car to me.

No doubt its a really nice car and well kept and top of the line survivor. But it HAS has paint work. The headlight buckets being glossy are a dead give away. Theres no question about that. It's all the other little questionables combined with the fact that it's had paint work that makes his claim of being stored in a climate controlled atmosphere and preserved until present day that make me question the miles.
The cars real history may tell a different story. Allot of shisnick can happen to a car over 30 years, even sitting still in the air condioning...lol

Not possible. I spent way too much time as a younger fella working in detail shops. You could take a high speed buffer with the worlds best polish on satin black and not get a reflection like that one. Definately gloss black.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
The reason I say that is because for the last few weeks now (not that it actually takes that much time) when I get a chance, I have been wet sanding orange peel out of mine and buffing with a wool pad one panel at a time. I actually did run the buffer across the headlight buckets with my mini. It shined it up a little, but not to the extent where it looks like the rest of my gloss black car. No mirror like reflection.

The 165 Mile Claim Could Be Legit,Just Look At That Engine Bay This Car Has Seen Very Little Street Use.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
I agree that the car has seen little street use, and may very well be a low mile car, but the 165 mile claim and the climate controlled environment are in question because of the stained carpet, glossy headlight buckets, very dirty door edge, lack of paint on the hood levelers, clear coat wear on the wheel center caps, etc. My engine compartment looks better than this one, and mine has 20k miles, so the clean engine can't be an indicator of the low miles.
The car does appear to be clean though.
The headlight buckets have been painted. I'm guilty of having more wax and polish on my car than many and mine are still satin. The lower chin spoiler doesn't appear to have the same reflectivity as the rest of the car, so I say it was repainted. Then the question is, "Why?"

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
A lot of the spray detail products contain a quick wax in them. I know if I don't keep that stuff away from the flat black parts it will make them shinny.
If the guy would let me see the car I could tell for sure, but for some reason when I contacted him before he didn't think I was worthy of it.

Re: 165 MILE IROC VERT
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the ASC Convertible conversion Stickers were usually on the Body side of the door jamb, NOT on the door itself...
Also the seats are too wrinkly to be factory IMHO, the rears maybe look right, but the fronts just do not seem right.
Look at the hood adjustment bumpers, those were painted in the factory, at least the one's I have seen have been painted.
The headlight buckets do appear to be a semi-gloss in the one picture to me, so that is kind of hard to tell, as one picture they seem really glossy, another they look about right.

Those headrests look iffy... But from the factory, the seats were wrinkly like that. At least they are in my 1991 owners manual
