Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

Yes you read the title correctly, I have the original AM/FM/CD player from my 91 Z28 in almost mint condition. It has the yellow writing. I am very careful with all my stuff and this unit is in excellent shape. I pulled the unit when I was competing in "IASCA" and it has been stored in a box ever since.

If you're looking at this thread you know how rare this item is. Asking $300 plus shipping. The only thing I would consider trading for is some 17" wheels.

Thanks for looking.

Very hard to find, especially for years 91 and 92, they came with the yellow text.

yellow text was 90-92, I would have to say these radios are uncommon, not rare, but uncommon, its a shame they never put full equalizers on the cd players, in 90-92, still a neat radio, gl with the sale

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

I received the AM/FM/CD unit today from h1-vltg. It is in excellent condition, just as advertised. I will post when I get it connected, but I would be VERY surprised if it does not function properly.

OK, I'm VERY surprised. And, I'm in the hole on the deal because the would-be seller wouldn't pay for return shipping. If it was functioning when it was removed, I don't see how it was rendered non-functional while sitting in a box.

That's not good news for the amount of money paid. Being in the hole, does that mean your out the return shipping or that h1-vltg is a bad seller?

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

It definitely means I'm out the return shipping....bad seller? I suppose the buyer assumes the risk when buying something (especially something electrical) without knowing for sure that it functions, but, I was told by the seller that it functioned when removed. Will I buy something used (or "new") over the boards again, just on the word of the seller, without seeing it function, in person? NO.

I feel for you Bill. The integrity of some people really gets under your skin. You should not have to be out of pocket for a product that was not as stated. To add insult to injury, this guy is a Business Owner himself

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

Most likely, it looks so good, because it failed early in it's life, so it wasn't used long enough to show any wear on the buttons.

Notice the seller hasn't posted? He knew it was bad & just out for the $. Makes it hard for honest people to sell, thanks to guys like him.

I hope he earns a ban of some kind, for his dishonesty.

EDIT:Read further down. The issue has been cleared & was a misunderstanding. I'm adding this comment instead of deleting & hiding my words, which were 100% wrong in this post before the Edit.

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

Sorry I didn't post for a while...I didn't know I had to. I clearly expressed everything up front with Bill.

Bill, I had no intention of deceiving you. I had no way of checking the unit and I clearly told you that in our PM's and I even expressed the terms of the sale. You were fine with that (you pay shipping one way and I'll pay the return if it doesn't work). So how come the unkind words?

Webee28...the unit did function when it was removed, and I was upfront with Bill about everything. He was fine with the terms of shipping, that is why we went through witht the transaction.

Stephen...I am not dishonest and I upheld the terms of the sale we both agreed upon 100%. The unit was working when I removed, I wish I had proof to prove it. Bill and I pm'ed each other very regularly and our communication was very good and open.

When Bill informed me that the unit was defective, I even offered to split the repair cost with Bill. But he explained to me that GM would take $150 upfront plus the cost of repairs. I did what I could to make the sale right. Ultimately Bill decided to return the unit to me and I promptly send him the refund we agreed upon.

Bill, If I have said anything incorrect, please correct me.

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

I don't see any unkind words in any of my posts, or PMs. No slams involved, I didn't even mention your name.

To clarify, the purchase price was refunded to me, in a timely manner. And yes, I did agree to the terms up front.

I am only relating my experience to others. If the unit worked when removed, I don't see how it would go bad sitting in a box. I ended up being out the cost of return shipping, which I agreed upon up front, since I figured it would be a long shot for the unit to be defective. The long shot came in, so shame on me.

I'll chock it up to lessons learned.

Bill

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

I think there was a misunderstanding then. And I think I can speak for everybody that read this thread...

It was my (ours?) understanding that the stereo was sold for $300, shipped back, and NO $ was refunded. No $300. No return shipping. Nothing.

If the $300 WAS refunded, my apologies. Misunderstanding. I guess I mainly posted to keep the thread up high, for others to see that (possibly) a TGO member had scammed another.

Apparently, that was NOT the case. Non-refunded return shipping is fairly standard, so part that is understandable.

Again, to clarify...h1-vltg did NOT scam/act in bad faith in any way, whatsoever, from what I understand more clear now.

Re: Super Rare OEM 91 Z28 AM/FM/CD player

Thank You both, Stephen and Burnout91.

Burnout91, you are correct you didn't say any unkind words, I started to get defensive when my integrity/ethics were placed on the line. I am sorry the unit didn't work, and I wish I could explain how it went bad sitting in a box...but I can't.

Stephen you did the right thing about keeping the thread up high...we all should look out for one another.

h1-vltg... your response puts this thread in perspective. I was hoping you would speak up if there was an issue, but like you said, you didn't think there was one. I also could not understand how the unit could go bad sitting in a box. But in defense, the thought of returning the stereo didn't seem plausible with your description. So, if this happened to me, I would be a little unhappy with return postage. I might have understood a split cost of return due to no intention to deceive.

My apologies to you. And yes, we all should look out for one another.

If you wanted to get this unit fixed I can recommend a great place to have it serviced. Its called same day auto audio repair. He offers a repair sevice for delco single disc cd players on ebay for a flat rate fee of 115 dollars and it comes with a 1 year warranty. His ebay user id is rch72.Rich is a great guy to deal with.Ive used his services on 4 different delco units and have always been very satisfied.Only once did I have a problem.Unit was still under warranty and it was taken care of right away.I recommend him to everyone I know who has a malfunctioning delco cd player
