Looking for uncracked console lid.

Looking for an OEM console lid for my 89. Does not have to be in good shape but the plastic underneath cannot be cracked (mine is now). I only say this because I plan on getting it recovered. Let me know what you have please. Reply here or send pics to joe.iroc.konik@gmail.com
Thank you!

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

I have no idea lol. When looking to get one a while back he said that it was factory leather so that's what I believed. I contacted hawks and they said that their reproduction ones arent leather. I don't want to spend the big bucks on a new one just for uncracked plastic, ya know. If I do find one I'll probably get it recovered in leather though.

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

Sometimes I see ones with good plastic underneath, so I'll keep an eye out. Imagine you would want the latch to work also? It seems like mostly the tops get kinda squished out to the sides but if you're going to recover that's OK, or you need that to retain the right shape for recovering better?

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

I'm not 100% sure. My console lid now was recovered before I got my car. I think it was done after since the entire bottom is pretty much smashed out of it. My main concern is having a solid base and if the latch works than that is a plus. He should be able to come up with something to make it look great. Let me know if you find anything
Thanks!

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

I guess what I really am looking for is an the uncracked plastic that sits under the vinyl / leather / whatever it is. It needs to be pretty cheap if possible. Shepp what were you asking for yours? Whatever I find will get recovered in leather at some point I believe.

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

Hi,

Well if you are going to shred the one I am selling... it might not be for sale
Mine is in excellent condition (no cracks/rips/etc.) and I would part with it for 60.00 + shipping

Re: WTB OEM Console Lid for 89 Iroc.

joekonik, just to be clear, there are two plastic pieces that make up the upper console lid and they are attached to each other by screws.

One is permanently attached to the vinyl/foam with injection foam around the edges and is not visible when installed.
The removable section includes the hinge, lever, spring and latch and is visible when installed.

I may have either one packed away, but I'd have to look and see what I have and in what condition etc. Just getting either plastic piece is probably not going to be cost effective when you include shipping though. I think that one for $60 would be the best option if it is mint. I'd want to see a more detailed image of it along with an image of the bottom so there aren't any questions later on.

Otherwise if you're recovering the permanent piece, I'd just remove the foam, and then plastic weld what you have and add a support piece on the inside to make it stronger. Then have your guy add new foam and recover it.

I'd be more than happy to take 360 degree images for you. Top, bottom, sides, if you are interested in buying it let me know and I will take more pics tonight after work.

It's in the best interest for both parties to have clear images of used parts if/when things don't work out, or if something unexpected shows up later on. I've fallen back on them when selling on a few occasions. I've sent things and had the buyer take a pic of a different item (and another time of it damaged after the fact) trying to pawn it off as something I had sent. It also helps if/when you insure the package and the item gets damaged in shipping. Once you send it in the mail it's just a fuzzy memory. I'm speaking from experience but if you want to eventually learn on your own then so be it.

I said yours is probably the best option but I can't really recommend it from the blurry pic. -sorry for trying to help you out.

Blurry pic?
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...-rest-lid.html

Maybe the packaging material under the Ctr Console lid is out of focus, but the lid is not blurry.

Anyway...

Here's a pic of the bottom of this lid as well.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...id-bottom.html

I don't 'pawn' anything off as anything, what I have images of are what I have to sell, period. This isn't my side job or real job, I happened to have an opportunity to buy several parts when I purchased my 1984 Z28, some I want, some are for sale.
Everything I have sold so far is exactly what was in the picture, and no one has had anything but positive things to say.
I would appreciate you not pushing your bad experience(s) off on the stuff I have for sale - I've not sold anything to you to warrant your rant.

I never said anything about you trying to pawn anything off, in fact as I stated before, I was recommending for him to purchase yours over trying to recover one from scratch. I said that because I feel that is the best option for him and it looked like what you have is a good deal. This is now the third time I’ve said that. If I had doubts about what you have for sale I wouldn’t have even suggested it. You are taking everything I post the wrong way and now adding things I never said.

The examples were to explain to you what can happen on both sides so that you can understand what can happen, and the information is to help you (or anyone else that’s reading this) from running into problems in the future. The statements were not implying anything about you or what you have for sale and I never meant for that to be the case.

The only thing I did that may have offended you was to point out that the pic you provided is blurry; it never implied anything was wrong with what you're selling. The image is still blurry and that’s something we could argue all day. We might have different monitors, who knows? I am not ranting, just pointing out a few facts and responding to your posts. Go back and take the time to read what was posted and maybe you’ll see things the same way. I stated that I probably have what he was looking for, however the shipping may not be cost effective and then recommended that yours might be the better option. My original post was in the best interest of the OP not in what you have to sell. Even then I don't see how saying your image is blurry constitutes knocking the item for sale or you personally.

Thanks, to be honest I had no idea what these consited of lol. However, I think at this point what I want to find is just that plastic piece to keep the price down. Shepp if I dont find what I'm looking for I'll be sure to let you know. Don't keep that lid just for me though because I have no idea when I'll make the purchase. If someone else wants it then let them have it.
