question about oil pressure gauge.
ok so i installed a set of autometer gauges in my car. well the temp and fuel gauge works fine but the oil pressure gauges only reads about 25-30 psi at idle. (warm) so i just finished a engine swap and used the same sending unit that came with the gauge but the new engine is still only runnin between 25-35 psi idel and warm. do u think it could be the sending unit? i replaced the gauge and sending unit once but the one i replced never got to see idle and warm engine. what do u guys think it could be? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Re: question about oil pressure gauge.
sounds good to me . oil flow is much more important than pressure . but 30+ at idle is good .

Re: question about oil pressure gauge.
reason i mentioned is because iv never seen a v8 run 25 psi in oil pressure at warm idle. iv always worked on and restored 73-87 chevy trucks and every one of them would run between 40-60 psi in oil pressure.

Okay, so if mine runs at about 50psi +/- at idle is that good. Cause when I give it gas it max's out?

It's fine. More than you might need, but that's ok.

Re: question about oil pressure gauge.
you can , in some cases have too much oil pressure . bearing clearences and other factors enter in . think about how an auto. tranny works , fluid press. .
i have seen times where upper r.p.m.s were lost because of too many shims on oil pump relief spring . shims removed , r.p.m.s came back . just food for thought , press. is good but flow is important also . just a thought from an old piston driven acft. mech. .
