Having trouble getting the seatbelts out!!

Ok, I've been trying hard to put new black carpet in my Camaro the last week and a half. Between work and lack of knowledge I've hit a few road blocks. The newest one is the seatbelts. I got them out for the most part, minus two bolts. The passenger side in the front by the door is giving me a lot of trouble, then the driver rear on the floor. Both are the bolts, they just won't budge!!, and the torx head keeps slipping out of the bolt head due to the pressure I'm putting on it trying to muscle the bolt out. I REALLY don't want to strip the bolt head, what do I do? Am I missing something?!? I need any and all help PLEASE!

Re: Having trouble getting the seatbelts out!!

Sounds like you're using the wrong size torx.. If I remember right, its a T57. A T55 looks really close but it'll slip out. I had to buy it separately at a hardware store, my assortment of torx bits didn't have the right size. But other than that, there's nothing special about the bolts.

It's T47, T45 will work but you'd better be very careful not to strip the heads otherwise, well, you're screwed .

Re: Having trouble getting the seatbelts out!!

The correct one is a T-47 which usually isnt included in most torx sets.I use a T-50 but you have to tap it into the bolt head.Works like a charm

Also helps to make sure there is no dirt in the Torx head - it builds up over time in there, and makes the head shallow. If you can get help as well, get someone to turn the wrench while you hold the bit down in the head really hard so it doesn't slip. They are in there really tight - factory uses thread locker on them.

Re: Having trouble getting the seatbelts out!!

Unfortunately none of my friends seem to wanna help me with this project, they all want to drive my Camaro though!! One drives an old station wagon, the other drives a honda civic.... both of them like my car better lol!! >
Anyways, I still haven't gotten them out, I'm afraid the one on the rear driver is now stripped, but I'll just work around it... I was actually able to still get the old carpet out with the bolts still in! I was very pleased, but am too tired to finish the project and put in the new carpet. I'll save it for another day, thanks for all the advice guys!!
