Recessed stereo
I was thinking of getting a double din for my firebird, and im pretty damn sure its not removeable lol. its like a $500 system for the cheap one... so I was thinking what if I recessed the stereo and put a cap over it so it looks like I just dont like music in my car at all? do you guys think there is enough room for me to do that? or am I wasting my time on foolish ideas.

Re: Recessed stereo
I have done it, I used a piece from a Peugeot 405 center console that had a door :
The grain on the plastic is identical, but it's a very dark gray instead of black.
After a bit of trimming, it looked very clean and it looked like a radio delete car.
When you push the recessed area, the door opens and reveals the radio (which was pretty ugly).
This was screwed to the center console in the original holes :
But now I've found a factory radio, so I don't need that anymore.
I totally forgot to take a picture of the finished product though...

Re: Recessed stereo
that looks pretty cool, but I was thinking something even more ingenious. No recessed area at all, the cover would be perfectly flush and flat, but still have the push release thing
